The HD View Ask Dr. Goodman Show

    in Health

What is Laqunimod?  Laquinimod is an experimental drug from TEVA Pharmaceuticals that has already been tested in previous clinical trials in several diseases including Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  This drug is thought to affect (or modulate) immune activity by shifting an injurious inflammatory situation to one that is more protective and anti-inflammatory. There is also evidence from various clinical trials that laquinimod may delay progression of disability in MS, and that it reduces brain atrophy as measured by MRI brain scans.  By reducing brain atrophy, this drug may have neuroprotective effects [Varrin-Doyer 2014]. This drug can trigger  protective neuron factors like BDNF (as measured in blood of MS clinical trial participants) that supports the health of neurons.

We will be talking about LEGATO-HD clinical research trial that will test the safety of Laquinimod.

Does past still afflict Psyche of Blacks, Light Skin preferred over Black skin

    in Music

As much as we would prefer not to discuss it, skin tone complications of the past still afflict the psyche of present-day America, according to an article by TheGrio. And, to be sure, the studies the article cites don’t isolate the issue to the black community alone. Rather, the studies report that the issue is pervasive in mainstream America as well.

Even employers seem to prefer the lighter-skin blacks among us:

A 2006 University of Georgia study showed that employers prefer light-skinned black men to dark-skinned men, regardless of their qualifications. We found that a light-skinned black male can have only a Bachelor’s degree and typical work experience and still be preferred over a dark-skinned black male with an MBA and past managerial positions,” said Matthew S. Harrison in 2006, then a doctoral student in applied industrial organizational psychology at Georgia. The study, which sampled over 12,000 black women imprisoned in North Carolina between 1995 and 2009, showed that light-skinned women were sentenced to 12 percent less time behind bars than their darker-skinned counterparts. The results also showed that having light skin reduces the actual time served by 11 percent.

    Reducing God to Build-up Man

    in Christianity

This program review the several distinctively un-Christian, but clearly official Mormon Doctrines that reduce the nature of God from a previously corrupt and sinful man to an exalted man who became one of billions of Gods.  This incredibly insulting teaching also builds mankind as it reduces God to an equivalent being.  Note:  This is a Live Call-in Show on KUTR 820 AM and 95.3 FM Utah radio called “Mainstream Mormonism” by Bishop Lee Baker.  To participate LIVE, call KUTR at 866-348-7884 or 866-34-TRUTH on Sat. Mar. 14th  at 4PM or Listen Live at LeeBaker.4Mormon.org

    Clarksvillan Roller Girls

    in Radio

What is flat track roller derby?

Flat track roller derby is a fast-paced contact team sport that requires speed, strategy, and athleticism. The flat track version of the sport evolved in 2001, and has quickly grown to encompass more than 400 leagues worldwide. This is in large part due to the ease of setting up a flat track--it can be done on any flat surface that is suitable for skating, such as skating rinks, basketball courts, parking lots, and even airplane hangars. This greatly reduces the capital needed to start up a roller derby league, and allows small groups of people to get a fledgling league off the ground. The DIY spirit that drives the sport allows roller derby leagues to create their own unique identities and adapt their structures to reflect their local communities.Joining me will be Cupcake Chaos,Ferris Bruise. Her, Tyrannosaurus Lexxe.

Why Is Coral Being Used For Fashion & Home Decor?

    in Environment

In 2010, when the Gulf Oil spill happened, the public was outraged. There was a worldwide outcry of concern for marine life and marine preservation as the Gulf Oil spill contaminated miles of pristine ocean and its surrounding areas. However, there is an even bigger problem affecting marine life. It is being done for the sake of fashion and exotic home décor. An estimated 70-90% of marine aquariums are collected illegally using poisonous cyanide. Other poisons such as bleach, formalin, and gasoline are also used. This not only reduces biodiversity but also removes key components of the reef ecosystem, including algae grazers, which help maintain ecosystem health. Coral reefs contain some of the largest diversity of life in the world. They are home to thousands of different plants and animals. For example, coral reefs in the Florida Keys sustain 500 species of fish, more than 1700 species of mollusks, five species of sea turtles, and hundreds of species of sponges. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Dr. Dan Thornhill, Coral Reef Marine Scientist from Defenders of Wild Life about what we need to do to protect our precious coral reef.

KICKIN’ IT WITH KEITH AND TKDKG: SUPPRESSING EMOTIONS FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE

    in Christianity

Join Keith and Latisha, Thursday, February 12th at 7p (EST) as they discuss the SUPPRESSION of emotions and verbalizing our feelings for the sake of PEACE.

When we think of emotions, we usually have in mind the active and outward expression of emotional energy. We equate sadness with crying, anger with ranting, fear with trembling, happiness with smiling, joy with laughing. We consider such external manifestations of emotional energy as the emotions themselves.

We call the person “emotional” who allows the visible or auditory display, or expression, of their emotional energy. Why are we intimidated by their emotional energy?

When we are denying our feelings, our partners probably get tense because our faces register our feelings... we say one thing but they see another. Suppression reduces the expression but not the experience of emotions hence the discrepancy between a person’s inner feelings and their outward behavior.

The suppression of your emotion(s) will likely shut down communication and once communication has ceased the problem exacerbates, becoming more difficult to be resolved. It is likely to fester only to be raised at a later time...unnecessary recycled regression! Do you find yourself keeping your emotions hidden for the sake of peace? Do you know that the very breath that we suppress CAN also set us FREE?

JOIN US as we dive into the topic of suppressing emotions for the sake of peace.
