Rap Report Card Radio Show by KBIZ Complex - #6 - Attracting Record Labels
R.I.P. Record Store Day or can it be saved?Let me preface this post by stating that I LOVE Record Stores. I WANT Record Stores to succeed. I LOVE the spirit that Record Store Day originally championed. I don't want Record Store Day to go away, but there are too many glaring issues that stores don't get to publicly mention and I've been asked to help be a voice for those that are afraid to speak up, for fear of retribution.
Ever since March 20th, when the official lists for Record Store Day have come out, you've seen some minor rumblings of a backlash towards Record Store Day. It has started to gain traction, received national attention and was very upsetting to those behind Record Store Day. But the problem is, if this stuff doesn't get discussed, how else can it get out? Not everything can or should be discussed behind closed doors--sometimes transparency is needed.
I made a post last year about some tweaks that were needed for Record Store Day here. Because in talking to as many stores as I do, I could see this coming. I was hoping that some of these issues would be fixed, but sadly we are now at the end of the road and two things are getting ready to happen:
a) Record Store Day is going to kill itself due to abundance of product b) Record Store Day is going to be abandoned by the very stores/artists/labels it was setup to promote
So what are some of the fundamental problems going on in the industry that will help kill Record Store Day:http://new-vinyl.blogspot.com/2014/04/rip-record-store-day-or-can-it-be-saved.html

This week on #IntotheCosmos, your hosts Ej Garr and Frank Dall'Apa have a huge show lined up for everyone to enjoy.
The guys will review the match this past weekend with San Antonio, after the Cosmos put an almost perfect performance together, which aided Jimmy Maurer to his NASL record setting 18th clean sheet, in the 3 - 0 win.
Speaking of Jimmy Maurer, the Cosmos stellar GK makes his first appearance on the show this season, and reflects on his accomplishments, and this season on and off the field.
With the Cosmos preparing for their 3rd Round U.S Cup battle with Jersey Express, we get the amazing opportunity to sit down with Express head coach Anderson Da SIlva, who has been helping the youth of soccer his entire life. He, alongside Chiquinho Da Silva, have combined for over 50 years of educating players on how to play the beautiful game.
Our third interview is with the head coach of Minnesota United, as we welcome Manny Lagos to the broadcast. Following his father's footsteps, Manny is the longest tenured coach in the entire NASL, with two Coach of the Year awards to his credit.
It will be a busy week ahead for the Cosmos, with the U.S Cup match on Wednesday, a big league match with second place Minnesota, and a trip to Cuba on June 2nd all on deck, so let's get to it!
We had all had a hell of Memorial Day weekend, especially those living near cities which saw an eruption in violence, particularly Baltimore, which has experienced record violence since protestors insisted police are all bad guys. We also talk about one of the leaders of the movement - DeRay Whatshisname . ?

Four games of the Western Conference Finals are in the books, and the Warriors lead the Rockets by a 3-1 margin. That overall mark may not seem surprising, but the route the series has taken to get there has been a bit bizarre.
For two games, the teams appeared almost evenly matched, with Stephen Curry and James Harden — the league’s top two finishers in MVP voting — trading blow for blow in two games that went down to the wire in Oakland.
Then in Game 3, the Warriors absolutely blew the doors off of Houston, grabbing a commanding 3-0 series lead by virtue of a 35-point beatdown in Toyota Center.
But the Game 4 that many predicted would be Golden State’s title coronation for the Western Conference? Instead, the Rockets climbed off the mat in stunning fashion, racing out to a record-setting 45-point first quarter and cruising to a 128-115 victory to extend the series. The Rockets, now 4-0 against elimination in these playoffs, became just the second team in NBA history to win four straight elimination games by double digits in the same postseason.
Ben DuBose of Sheridan Hoops is joined by Josh Reese of CBS Radio in Houston to break it all down.
Just how historically great have Curry and Harden been?
How scary was Curry's Game 4 injury scare?[/
Was not suspending Dwight Howard for his Game 4 elbow the right call?
Did Klay Thompson find himself during Curry’s brief Game 4 absence?
Who is the X-factor for the Rockets after Harden and Howard?
Does Steve Kerr need to make any significant adjustment for the Warriors?
Who wins Game 5?
