The Legal Show Mercy Killing or Murder for Convenience? Part 1

    in Legal

Attorney Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.

The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.

This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.

Tonight we discuss the topic of mercy killings in this, our first, two part series. Jurors began deliberations in October in the trial of Gigi Jordan, the former Manhattan health-care executive who was accused of killing her 8-year-old autistic son.  Ms. Jordan was charged with killing her son with a cocktail of drugs in February 2010 and has never denied ending her son’s life. Her testimony offered a complex tale involving death threats from her former husband and claims that Jude communicated to her that he was being sexually abused and tortured by his biological father. On Wednesday, November 5th, during its fifth day of deliberations, a Manhattan jury accepted Ms. Jordan’s claims and found her guilty of manslaughter, rejecting the prosecution’s call for a murder conviction. Join Bennet and Sarah as they discuss the sensitive and controversial topic of “mercy killings” and how they relate to the law.

"City of Lost Souls" director Jason Baustin, Altorro Black and Bobby J. Brown

    in Entertainment

The King of DC Media, William Powell, welcomes City of Lost Souls director Jason Baustin, Altorro Prince Black and Bobby J. Brown to the Inside Acting radio show to talk about their tense crime drama.

Read my article about the show here: City of Lost Souls premieres at AFI Silver Theatre

CITY OF LOST SOULS is a tense, compelling crime drama that pulls the audience into an unforgettably, murky world. You can see the awards it's going to win.

The short film (some call it a TV pilot) premiered at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD, Monday, November 10th. CITY OF LOST SOULS is the product of director Jason Baustin's Traveste Films. The film follows the life challenges of ex-con Mickey Wallace (Bobby J. Brown of THE WIRE fame) and his antagonist Assistant State's Attorney Roger Kenfield (the always excellent Altorro Prince Black).

The consensus of the audience at the premier was they wanted exploration and payoffs of the multiple, compelling storylines, which covered everything from legal horse-trading to political payoffs. The film felt like the pilot to a great TV series in the vein of BREAKING BAD or the SOPRANOS.

Yours truly, The King of DC Media, highly recommends it!

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 977

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest host is Barbara Ochoa from San Francisco, a returning NAASCA family member who has been with us several times. That's because Barbara (aka Petra Luna) has a special mission, one which we share with her here at NAASCA. Each year for the past three years, Barbara has produced a series of events celebrating what's become known as Male Abuse Awareness Week (MAAW -- the first week of December). Each year, recognizing that young males have an especially tough time even talking about being abused as kids, Barbara reaches out to this frequently undeserved group with videos, music events, dance and special guest appearances (Help4Guys.org). She encourages victims of abuse to seek help, justice and recovery through her music and nonprofit organization, the P.Luna Foundation. Barbara will be joined tonight by former police officer, Billy Walker, an abuse survivor who serves as a Board Member at Barbara's P. Luna Foundation. He has a BA in Political Science, a Masters Degree in Education and has worked as a police dispatcher, police officer, jailor, deputy sheriff, deputy coroner, prison counselor and parole officer. He's even worked security at the Olympics. "I served in law enforcement for 20 years," says Billy says. "Through my work in law enforcement I have seen the results of heinous acts perpetuated by adults upon children. I joined the P. Luna Foundation in 2005 because I wanted to help in making the world a better and safer place for children." Among other topics we'll be asking him for any safety tips he might have for males to stay safe and avoid predators. We'll also find out what Billy recommends what one should to do about it if one does become a victim.

Calls are taken in the order they’re received, so you are encouraged to call in well before the show starts to secure your place in the lineup. Please ensure that you are in a quiet environment, otherwise we cannot take your call.

Joanie does not claim to cure addictions. She is, however, able to channel whether one has planned to experience addiction before incarnating and what life lesson opportunities are available to them now. Free Will choices might explain why one has become addicted to a substance or behavior. She channels what one needs to address in this lifetime in order to consider overcoming addiction in order to move forward into a healthier place.

Joanie will assist you in uncovering what led you to this place of addiction and will make recommendations based on what she uncovers. If she is guided to do a healing on you, please have a glass of water nearby to flush toxins out of your body while she works on your energetic field. Whether you listen or call in to the show, Joanie recommends finding a counselor or program if you find that you are unable to stop on your own. The root cause will be addressed here, yet taking steps to stop what might be out of control is always a healthy option.
