IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING STRAIGHT AND RAISING KIDS AND BEING GAY AND RAISING KIDS? IS IT HARDER FOR THE CHILDREN? PARENT?
The joy of being a Parent is one you can not put a price tag on. Some people choose to be child-free but many look forward to carrying their own babies, rolling on the floor with them, doing the small things, big ones and everything between. Then, the reality of life sets in, in a totally different way when our angels are diagnosed with having a disability.
On this week's episode we will be speaking with two wonderful women - BEBE CLEMENT and VICTORIA LAWRENCE on RAISING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES - both sharing their personal stories.
Touching on -
How do you get a diagnosis?
What can you do to help the child?
How does it affect the family dynamic?
How do siblings handle it?
Financial/ marital pressures?
What can family and friends do to help?
How do you keep yourself sane?
Three thousand years ago, a wise man said, “Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Good training is not crisis management; it is what you do before the need of discipline arises.
To train up a child in the way of the Lord we must train and teach them about Christ. We must train and teach them how to be holy in everything they do, say, or think. And we train and teach our children with biblical instructions from the word of God with love and discipline.

Raising children is a lifetime commitment. Not all the answers for raising kids is in books or from "experts". Only a parent can really know their child and it takes time and effort. With today's technology parents may have become lazy by allowing kids to play with computers, cell phones, video games, etc. The most important thing about being the parent is teaching children to interact with their peers and society face to face. Look at the time we spend not interacting with kids and other people and ask yourself, what kind of example am I giving to my kids?
In today’s thought provoking episode Dr. T reviews the article, “How Cultures around the World Think about Parenting” by Amy S. Choi. She then reviews an ABC news article profiling a parent in South Carolina, recently arrested for leaving her 9 year old unsupervised in a playground. In Japan, this would be no issue.
