RAAM Media One Photojournalist Vic Armijo joins us to discuss the upcoming Race Across America/Race Across the West. Vic provides his unique perspective as the person who brings the race to life for so many of us through both written and photographic imagery.
Mark Pattinson has multiple top five finishes in the 3,000 mile, coast to coast, non-stop bicycle Race Across America (RAAM). A crowd favorite, the understated Pattinson works a full time job, raises a family and fits in a busy training schedule. He is also a master tactician who knows his strengths and weaknesses. Mark is one of the most discilplined racers in the field who is able to let the rabbits go at the start and pick his way throught the field as the races crosses the continent. We look forward to discussing the 2014 edition with Mark this evening.
My special guest is Dr. Jay Alberts, Ph.D. from the Cleveland Clinic who specializes in Parkinson's research. Scott Luikart will join us on the show today. Hour one: Losing The Signal. Sean Silcoff, Journalist for the Globe and Mail.
Losing the Signal is a riveting story of a company that toppled global giants before succumbing to the ruthlessly competitive forces of Silicon Valley. This is not a conventional tale of modern business failure by fraud and greed.
Hour two: MHOX. Filippo Nassetti, MHOX partner and lead designer, Communication manager.
MHOX is a product design studio. They work with companies and brands to innovate their products and communication, providing services of industrial design, product communication, research and development. MHOX began as a research group focusing on generative design and 3D printing technologies for the design of innovative wearable products, and evolved into a more general design consultancy. Since 2012 they deliver both disruptive concepts and commercial products for the fashion and medical industry, from masks to prostheses, fashion accessories to orthoses, bracelets to EYEs. A reflection on the human body, its symbiosis with technology, its evolution in possible futures is central to MHOX work. Wearable products are body extensions, objects or systems that integrate the human body to mutate its aesthetic and functional potential, and this concept is constantly brought to its limit.

Focusing on the history and foundation of the UNIA-ACL, while discussing modern community issues within the black race with goals of unity and collaborative efforts to community/nation build through group economics, education, politics, networking and sharing resources.
The media has brought to the forefront cases that have caused public outrage and concern. From the curious case of Trayvon Martin killed by George Zimmerman, Michael Brown gunned down as an unarmed felon, to the disturbing incidents surrounding the death of Sandra Bland, there is a definite rise in racial tensions across the United States as the media blares a giant searchlight on situations of African Americans in some sort of confrontation with a Caucasian.
When these incidents come into the public eye, they lead to an overarching question: "Why?" One black man made a very famous statement while being beaten by a group of police officers: "Can't we all just get along?" The statement has been taken seriously and at the same time, been made a parody. But the question, however one puts it remains. "Can't we all just get along?"
Is racism simply part of America's DNA -- what makes up this country? Is this just a thing we have to live with and accept? Will those who try to work to bring harmony on either side be ridiculed? Why can't we as a nation get past this? Why does it keep rearing its head?
Join in on the conversation with my returning guest Melissa Pellew as we try to tackle this issue and others surround the rise of racial tensions in our country.
