Research Methods in Criminal Justice – Ethical Considerations

    in Training

Brought to you by The American Public Safety Training Institute (TAPSTI) www.tapsti.org, this 2 hour session will review the work of Dr. Peter Kraska and Dr. W. Lawrence Neuman and their excellent textbook entitled “Criminal Justice and Criminology Research Methods” (2012, 2nd ed.).  Thinking about your application of ethics in your research project is critical to your completing enough preparation to be successful. Ethical conduct ensures that the "knowledge–power dynamic" which we understand so well in public safety generates knowledge only from credible research. As a criminal justice researcher you have a professional and ethical obligation to create new knowledge that is useful, accurate, credible, and that can be generalized across a wide population. The purpose of this seminar is to ensure you understand and appreciate the ethical implications of your research as well as the potential adverse impacts that research can have on others.

The Code of Hammurabi is still studied by historians and students for its contri

    in Music

The Code of Hammurabi was written by King Hammurabi, who began ruling the Babylonian Empire in about 1800 BC. Hammurabi came to power using his strengths as a military leader, conquering many smaller city-states to create his Empire. Hammurabi believed that the gods appointed him to bring justice and order to his people, and he took this duty very seriously. Not long after his ascent to power, he created his Code, 282 laws written to define all relationships and aspects of life in the kingdom. The laws were displayed in a public place so that all the people could have the opportunity to study them. The laws applied to everyone, though application of the laws and punishment differed according to social class. The punishments for disobeying the laws were swift and harsh, further encouraging compliance. The form of the Code of Hammurabi is significant in the way that it is written. The simple language used to write the Code allowed the average member of Babylonian society to understand the expectations placed on them. Each of 282 laws was written separately with specific examples of indiscretions that were illegal, and the precise form of punishment that would occur. in Christianity

We want to thank all of you for taking the time to listen to our show.  Tonight we are bringing you a message that Wild Bill thought would open up our minds when we take a look at the grace of GOD.  So many times we seem to forget the relationship of God and his application of grace to our life.  Some people find this speaker a little hard to understand.  That was a slight fear in putting this speaker on our show tonigh, but we remembered that you have the power of downloading this show to any smart device, and can listen to this again.  The speaker tonight is Joseph Prince.  Many of you may have never heard any of his teachings because you do not believe everything that he teaches. I can understand this thought process, but I say that if you only listen to people who agree with you on every point.  That you may be cutting off the ability to gain more in your relationship with GOD!  We have a couple of clips that Wild Bill fills will get all of us to thinking! At the end of this show we will open up the microphones so you can share your thoughts and/or ask questions. Push the number 1 on your phone and we will identify you by the last four digits of your phone number.
