After a few attempts this week, the Bedford & Sullivan podcast finally gets the 57th episode off the ground. On this episode, Carl Erskine and I immerse ourselves talk of pitching.
Carl and I have discussed many a things about Brooklyn and the Dodgers over our many episodes on air. We haven't, however, devoted an entire episode to the art of pitching, which I certainly believe to be a conversation worth having when digging deep into the detail of what this television show could be. What better way than to discuss the artform with an all-time great such as Carl Erskine? We'll dig deep into his philosophy, how he altered it from batter to batter, and what he finds to be the biggest difference from the era he pitched in to the era we currently live in.
So, join us at 9am ET for the latest edition of the Bedford & Sullivan podcast!

Pitching motion expert Angel Borrelli and baseball coach / blogger Joe Janish talk about MLB pitching injuries, how they may have occurred, and how pitching injuries in general can be prevented. They briefly metnion Jonny Venters' third UCL tear, and why it may have happened. They also discuss Homer Bailey's torn flexor tendon, going in-depth to describe the flexor and its role in the pitching motion, and Bailey's risk of suffering another arm injury in the future. Angel and Joe also go over Danny Duffy's recent shoulder inflammation and how it may be related to his previous UCL tear and Tommy John surgery. Finally, Angel and Joe take on the theory that baseball pitchers should be playing other sports during the offseason, suggesting that Dr. James Andrews' recommendation may have been misinterpreted.
Alfredetta Ward is a strong, ambitious young entrepreneur who is innovative and motivated to see her performers shine. In 1997, while employed at Tyrone’s on Broadway supper club in Oakland CA she formed a vision. While listening to many aspiring singers, an appreciation of their talent inspired her to create a different type of venue. She created Miss Pumpkin Productions.
From 1998 - 2001 produced Old School 70's music tribute shows with groups such as the Old School Ballards, and The Legendary California Malibu's. She was able to land a well-known local venue (Sweet Jimmy's) for her first production and later move on to larger venues as her reputation grew. Her events became the number one place to be, especially on holidays and days such as Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day.
In 2005, she created Miss Pumpkin's Karaoke Showdown / Throw down Battle of the Sexes vocal competition. The show was picked up by local cable network leading to a better version called, Show down / Throw down Battle of the Sexes Part 2. It had a two-year run which lead to the show winning an award for outstanding production.
Miss Pumpkin has become well-known, spotlighted KJDJ, meaning she is not your average disc jockey. She added fabulous theme parties and numerous contests to her shows. Currently, Miss Pumpkin has established a new hit tribute show entitled Miss Pumpkin's Tribute to Legendary Stars, and Tracy Got Talent 2014. Her fabulous tribute show has graced popular venues such as The Gallo Theater, Modesto CA., The Bob Hope Theater, Stockton CA, The Flamingo Resort, Santa Rosa, CA, and the Stockton Fairgrounds to name a few.
From a waitress to event planner, show promoter, club owner, and KJDJ, she is headed for more success in the world of entertainment. Miss Pumpkin and her Production Supervisor, Samantha Richardson will be our special guest for this show.

Sailor Moon's English Re-dub is out now, Sailor Jupiter makes her first appearance on Sailor Moon Crystal, #MoonlightParty was a big joke, Death Gun's true identity has yet to be revealed on Sword Art Online II & I am apparently the only Moonie who doesn't wear purple pleated pants.
Yeah, a lot has been going on this weekend & we're going to try to cover everything without having a disasterous show of our own like last week. Last week's shows sucked, I had to redo last week's show as a result, I get reminded why I should never host a Labour Day Weekend show.
