the Hipnotics ... LA Psychedelic R&B Band

    in Rock Music

Tonight Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes the LA Based Psychedelic R&B Band, the Hipnotics to the show!

    http://thehipnotics.com
    https://www.facebook.com/hypnoticteamo

The Hipnotics are an up-and-coming, and I mean rocketing to the moon, experimental psychedelic rock band from Los Angeles.  Heavily influenced by the cosmic sounds of the late 60’s, the band consists of five music-savvy individuals: Lead Guitar/Vocalist - Matt Ernst, Bassist - Sean Conway, Drummer - Josh Apple, Guitarist/Keys - Zach “Binxy” Apple, and last but not least, Flautist/Saxophone - Zach “RoseGold” Rose - the newest addition to the band.
Most have known each other for over eight fruitful years. Together they’ve developed a unique style of vocal sampling and sound wave manipulation that combines their R&B, Rock n’ Roll and psychedelic influences.

Salme and Nick Valentini. two great talents debuting new songs only here

    in Music

Salme Dahlstrom – Salme -- is  a New York-based  musical artist who not only writes and produces irrepressible dance music,  but she licenses virtually everything she  does to TV or movies. That means you have  probably heard her music even  if you don’t know it.  Which is to say, that chances are, Salme Dahlstrom is a part of the soundtrack of your life.  Salme is a woman so confident in her talent that she has long ago transcended pop’s angst to produce music that is intelligent as well as hooky,  sophisticated as well as accessible passionate as well as strategic, and always, always fun to listen to.  She is releasing new songs in advance of a new album and we are going to debut them Friday on MusicFridayLive!

The Nick Valentini Collective is a critically acclaimed eight-piece, fusion musical collective born in Los Angeles about six months ago and led by singer and keyboardist Nick Valentini.  Blending indie rock, jazz and experimental psychedelic soul,  the band has been often dubbed as a “jazz fusion Radiohead”. The group quickly made a name for themselves in the Southern California music scene attracting large audiences to their dynamic live shows and is now set to announce the release of their first album. We will debut 2 songs from the forthcoming album, the first time they are heard on the radio anywhere.

    Magical Cults and NeoPaganism (re-broadcast)

    in Radio

On Thursday The Hermetic Hour host Poke Runyon will review his 1980 master's thesis in cultural anthropology at Cal State, Northridge, titled: "A History of Magical Cults and the Rise of NeoPaganism in Southern California." This work has never been published and contains what some might consider "sensitive" material. It briefly reviews the history of the Western Esoteric Tradition starting in first century Alexandria, up through the 19th and 20th century magical groups, concentrating on the modern rise of Magick and "Wicca" in England -- and immigrating to America. Magick first in the 1920s, followed by witchcraft in the 1960s. The rise of nature oriented NeoPaganism in Southern California, through the turbulent psychedelic era, and the new "Coven model" organizations. I saw this phenomenon as a cultural revitalization movement I referred to as "NeoRomanticism." It is a sad fact that most contemporary witches and magicians know very little about the actual history of their "traditions," especially in relation to other earlier traditions, and groups they may not be aware they are related to. We will open a time capsule and go back 35-40 years to the thrilling days of yesteryear. Tune in and we'll ripe the veil of mystery from our history.
