Does it ever seem that some athletes hold on to their professional careers too long? Well, that might be easy for you to say if you've never walked in their shoes or if you don't understand what motivates them. 46-year old Roy Jones, Jr. is a former world champion and in the 90's considered to be the fighter of the decade. Well, Jones is back in the ring and many people are asking why. Jones joins us to talk about his career, his future plans and some of his business dealings as he prepares to face Danny Sanitago in St. Marteen August 29th. It's football season, so we will of course talk about what's happening around the NFL. Injuries, roster updates and more. Plus we'll talk about the Houston Texans and have our weekly "Hard Knocks" update. Then we'll talk a little baseball and see if your crystal ball can give us any insight into posteason. The Houston Astros are trying to make the playoffs for the first time in a decade. If rookie sensation Carlos Correa has anything to say about they will! All of this and more as we get you ready to have "Chalk Talk" in the board room; classroom or whatever room you need to impress in.

Howdy, folks. We're back after an understandable Saturday pre-emption due to this past weekend's legendary Afropunk Festival held at Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park. Check out our impressions of the event during the latest episode of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review airing this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST. Join your hosts, Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they discuss the following issues: Dburt's thoughts on the escalation (and evolution) of the other Black experience commonly refered to as Afropunk; a St. Louis mother's empassioned rant critiquing the Black Lives Matter movement goes viral; futurist and entrepreneur, Elon Musk's vacuum travel project might be gaining more traction and viability; a belated hat tip to Shadow and Act for their highlighting of an upcoming film project about African American women who were NASA mathematicians during the Civil Rights era; and while films about Black genius are in development, memetic minstrelsy may get rewarded (again) with Straight Outta Compton garnering Oscar buzz (do they ever give awards that show AA communities in a good light?); DC's Vixen gets her animated closeup. And lastly, famed director, Steve McQueen with the assistance of Hollywood iconic actor/activist, Harry Belafonte may be gearing up to make a Paul Robeson biopic (Oscar, anyone?). Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
In fact, because of this deep desire for peace, the ruling class leaders of this land, from 1945 on, stepped up the hysteria and propaganda to drive into American minds the false notion that danger threatened them from the East.-Paul Robeson

One prayer can change everything, says bestselling author Tricia Goyer in Prayers That Changed History.
Martin Luther. Sojourner Truth. Helen Keller. St. Patrick. We read their stories, and of other people like them, in history books and hear about the amazing things they did to change the world. But one part of the story is often left out: Each one of them wouldn’t have accomplished what they did without prayer.
In Prayers That Changed History, the stories of twenty-five notable people are presented along with how prayer changed their lives and changed history. Following each historical example is a biblical story that ties to that person’s life and actions, as well as ways you can use the power of prayer in your life as well. Because God isn’t done changing the world yet, and he would love to use you to make history.
Includes images of each historical figure.
This weeks All About Vets radio show will feature Sarah Stoltman and Cara Mae Melton. These ladies are doing fabulous things with HBOT in the VA Beach, VA area.
Sarah Stoltman started her career as a commercial diver and dive medic back in 2007. After doing offshore construction for a year and a half in the Gulf of Louisiana, she decided that was not what she wanted to do but had an interest in what else she could do with the hyperbaric chamber. She found a clinic near by and started working for world renown Dr. Paul Harch and got to be involved with the first pilot study for HBOT and TBI/PTSD. After seeing the results she became hooked and became a certified hyperbaric technician and safety director. Since then she has been involved in the research and hospital aspect of hyperbaric oxygen, as well as starting a clinic from scratch and now co owns Hampton Roads Hyperbaric Therapy. She has treated over three thousand patients and had a strong relationship with several clinics around the country. Her next goal is to get a mobile chamber so she can treat veterans in different cities of Virginia.
Hampton Roads Hyperbaric Therapy opened in January of 2014. The clinic was purchased by Sarah Stoltman and Cara Mae Melton Jan 2015. HRHBOT treats neurological injuries as well as chronic pain, pre and post surgery and nerve damage.
Sarah and Cara Mae founded Heal the Warriors, a non profit organization to help fund active military personnel, veterans, and first responders with traumatic brain injury using hyperbaric oxygen.
If you have questions about the HBOT treatments or how to contact a chamber call us during the show 646 595-3504.
