Why is a CEO so important to a company and its stock values?
CEOs are paid huge sums of money in the eyes of Main Street. Why do firms pay so much? Are CEOs that important? Martha Stokes CMT explains the role of the CEO, his or her importance to the company, the difference between a great CEO and a bad CEO, how the Board of Directors control the CEO, and how the shareholders of the company can force the Board to replace the CEO. The saying " blood is thicker than water" does not apply with most these days. Your family could be your worst enemy, is this true? Should you fight for a family that's already broken? What does the word family mean? Should we create our own family with other bloodlines? What is the true meaning of being a brother or a sister? We are going to discuss why we have fallen short of our family values. Vibe with us!!
Today's show is dedicated to a roundup of the issues, causes and campaigns facing American ciitizens as they prepare to vote in the general elections this November, 2014. We have endured a multi-year War on the Poor, which is in full swing.
We have made registering, and qualifying to vote this November our number one priority on PPTS. Our goal is to increase citizen voter turnout by 60% on election day tallies. Only you can do that, and our show now turns to doing what we can to convince you that your vote is the one which counts most in November.
Call in live, or join us in our lively chat room, or listen to the replay--or download the archived shows. This show is about the activists, activities, and activism of the Progressive movement throughout the United States of America.
The role you play in that activism is the most important of all, and we want to hear from you: citizen.
On this 13th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001, Progressive Politics: Tennessee Style presents a very special memorial show which is designed to hear YOUR remembrances of that day. We do tend to ignore the reality that every American citizen, no matter their physical location, was forever changed that day.
This is not a show to discuss, or to debate. For that reason, none will be permitted to impede upon the reflections of those American citizens who wish to share that moment in their lives with our listening audience. There are shows for that, and there is a time and place for having the necessary discourse required. This show is not it.
I hope you will call in to our live show, and share your "moment" of remembrance--your truly American story. This show is dedicated to the children of 9/11/01, and all those children who have become part of our American landscape since that day. Living history is always so much more relevant that written history, I think. We hope you will choose to share yours with us, with America and the world on this very special PPTS episode.
Our Subject today is forgiveness. We find that today, we are more apt to persecute rather than forgive. We would rather hold on to our hatred and our hurt rather than forgiving someone who has wronged us. The Bible tells us that we must forgive if we ourselves want to be forgiven. Today we will be talking about the Ray Rice and the NFL scandal that is in the news today. We will also talk about whether or not someone should be forgiven if they have committed domestic violence against their wife or girlfriend. Join in the conversation tonight at 8 pm EST.

A Sound of Thunder delivers a unique and exciting blend of classic heavy metal, progressive, and rock. The young upstarts from Washington, DC pay no heed to trends, focusing on quality song-writing with memorable melodies and riffs that stand the test of time. With first class musicianship all around, the band's not-so-secret weapon is vocalist Nina Osegueda. Standing only 5' 2", the diminutive singer packs the vocal wallop of someone twice her size. Described as a "heavy metal Swiss army knife", Osegueda moves effortlessly from delicate whisper to overwhelming power, with the occasional banshee wail thrown in for good measure!
A Sound of Thunder was formed in 2008 by guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren. After over a year of numerous line-up changes and false starts, in late 2009 they were joined by vocalist Nina Osegueda, who had grown restless in her previous band and was in search of broader musical horizons. The chemistry between Schwartz, Haren and Osegueda was instant, and the band wasted no time recording their self-titled debut EP in late 2009, and follow up single benefitting the West Memphis Three in early 2010.
Radical Analysis aims to spelunk the questions that confront us, both as individuals and as a society. It is a forum for conversations that move beneath the surface to excavate the roots of those challenges. It is animated by that spirit of the Radical articulated so elegantly by Paulo Freire:
The radical, committed to human liberation, does not become the prisoner of a "circle of certainty" within which reality is also imprisoned. On the contrary, the more radical a person is, the more fully he or she enters into reality so that, knowing it better, he or she can better transform it. This individual is not afraid to confront, to listen, to see the world unveiled. This person is not afraid to meet the people or to enter into dialogue with them. This person does not consider himself or herself the proprietor of history or of all people, or the liberator of the oppressed; but he or she does commit himself or herself, within history, to fight at their side...
