SONS OF LIBERTY, the three-night, six-hour event, follows a defiant and radical group of young men–Sam Adams, John Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Dr. Joseph Warren–as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation.
Let us talk of the Revolution and the men that made it. Did the History Channel get it right or is it another pile of hokum from Hollywood?
This week on The Porch we will be interviewing Christopher Everett, writer and director of the upcoming documentary, Wilmington On Fire.....
WILMINGTON ON FIRE is a feature-length documentary that will give a historical and present day look at the Wilmington Massacre of 1898. The Wilmington Massacre of 1898 was a bloody attack on the African-American community by a heavily armed white mob with the support of the North Carolina Democratic Party on November 10, 1898 in the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina. It is considered one of the only successful examples of a violent overthrow of an existing government (coup d'etat) and left countless numbers of African-American citizens dead and exiled from the city. This event was the spring board for the white supremacy movement and Jim Crow Segregation throughout the state of North Carolina, and the American South. This incident is barely mentioned and has been omitted from most history books. It was not until 2006, after the North Carolina General Assembly published a report on it, that the tragedy became known to the public. The film features interviews from historians, authors, activists and descendants of the victims of the Wilmington Massacre of 1898. © 2011 Christopher Everett
Be sure to tune in this week as we discuss the next important documentary to drop as we continue unvail how the system of white supremacy sprung new roots from this act of macabre.

A college professor once told Damien K. H. Nash that he had some of the worst writing abilities that she ever encountered. Nash did not accept this negative label and took it upon himself to challenge that professor's claim. Now, five years later,Nash is an author and the founder of TNG Publishings, LLC, a full-service custom book publishing company. Nash has written several books including Thoughts From the Box: 31 Day Devotional and How to Load Your Truck: One Box at a Time and Big Box, Little Box. He has an uncanny gift for showing how everyday processes, such as package delivery systems, can be used in meaningful stories. His heart for family values and character is the cornerstone of his writings.

Christian Authors on Tour (CAOT)
This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!

Moten, Ph.D. reach across the most celebrated milestones to the little-known mileposts underscoring the era’s youngest champions.
