    Culture Bridge International Art Exhibit and Festival of the Arts:

    Marianna Buchwald is the founder and creative director of the International Art Group in Chicago. She works with a diverse group of artists, musicians and dancers from different countries. For 15 years, she has worked as International Tour guide in Chicago and in Germany, developing art and architecture, neighborhood tours and special cultural tours to benefit different types of age groups and visitors from around the world.


    The German American Cultural Center (DANK Haus) presents a vibrant International festival of art: Culture Bridge/Kulturbruecke,Feb.20. - March 19. 2016., a cultural bridge of musicians, painters, dancers, and sculptors from Germany, the United States and many countries around the globe.


    Curated by Marianna Buchwald, International Art Group and Derin Baratka,Lincoln Square Artists Guild, the exhibit at the Scharpenberg Gallery at  DANK Haus will feature a broad range of works with an intention to deepen cross-cultural ties.  There will be a series of events that will entertain and stimulate thinking about how many cultures can create a dialog about what matters in the world of art, art making with Linda Platt for children and adults, artist talks and panel discussions, moderated by Prof. Talmadge Wright, Prof. Almira Gilles, Pala Townsend, Kao Ra Zen and Tracy Kostenbader. 


    As a diverse group of artists, musicians and dancers from different countries, we invite you to come and see our exhibitions, performances and special events. Also to participate in special tours in Chicago, accentuating art and culture, and also to join us to participate in journeys to the countries and neighborhoods we originated from.

     Prof. Small taught for nearly twenty years at the City University of New York, including 17 years at the City College of New York's Black Studies Department, thirteen of those years also serving as an administrator and two years at New York City Technical College. Prof. Small has taught courses on Malcolm X, Traditional African Religion (Prof. Small is a priest in the Yoruba religion), Pan Africanism, Crime in the Urban Community, Urban Crisis and Issues, and African Folklore. Prof. Small has also appeared on a number of network talk shows and newsmagazines. These include the Phil Donahue Show, The Rolanda Watts Show, The Geraldo Rivera Show, Matt Lauer Nine Broadcast Plaza Show, The Charlie Rose Show, Tony Brown's Journal, Like it Is with Gil Noble as well as numerous cable programs and local, national and international television and radio shows.


     Prof. Small has lectured at some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the world.     Silvester Carl Henderson is a nationally recognized Professor, educator, motivational speaker, business owner, respected real estate investor, community artistic organizer, musician/artist, and conductor of the Gospel Song. Presently he serves as the full-time Professor of Choral Activities and Chair of the Music Department at the Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, CA where he directs the College Chorus, Chamber Chorale, and the Gospel Choir. In addition to those responsibilities, he also teaches voice classes, applied vocal lessons, music theory, class piano, musicianship, classical piano and gospel piano. the Fall of 2000, Professor Henderson developed a “Gospel Piano Curriculum”, which was the only collegiate academic course of its type, in the State of California.



    Evan Wade is a professor of history at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA. As a professor Mr. Wade teaches classes in African American History and U.S. History. He is the author/ editor of the newly released textbook, The African- American Primary Source Reader, from 1865-Present (Kona Press), which examines the African American experience through the writings of notable black activists such as Ida B. Wells, Mary Church Terrell, and Marcus Garvey. Prof. Wade is also the advisor for the San Joaquin Delta College Black Student Union. The mission of the BSU is to provide a harmonious atmosphere for black students to support one another, network and thrive.
     
    A native of Richmond, California, Professor Wade is a member of the NAACP, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and a Deacon at the Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Stockton, CA.
