Applied Improvisation and Product Design
Applying improvisation to communication, teamwork and leadership has received a lot of business press lately. Improvisation principles can also be used in marketing areas including product design and usability. Join me Oct 23rd when we chat to Jessie Shternshus, a fellow Applied Improv Network member, about how improv principles can improve design.
As the founder and owner of The IMPROV EFFECT, Jessie weds her lifelong passion for and expertise in applied improvisation with the fast paced demands of the corporate world. In her classes she helps people become better listeners, team players, leaders, and communicators. Her physically engaging and playful workshops are relevant to all fields of life; participants of her workshops vary from college professors to engineers and from web developers to lawyers. Jessie gained her formal education at USF and NYU. Throughout her career she has worked with Fortune 500 companies and companies such as CBS, Johnson & Johnson, Expedia, Getty Images and Celgene.
I'm Kathy Klotz-Guest, podcast host and CEO of marketing firm, Keeping it Human. We turn marketing-speak into human speak and stories that get results! Product and Service Design and The Customer Experience
Great product and services design is about creating fantastic customer experiences. It's also about customer empathy, story, and understanding exactly how your product or service fits into your customers' lives. There are many ways to approach design. Where do you start? What factors are most important?
Join me Thursday, April 11, for a chat about product design, user needs, and innovation with one of my fave design pros, Mike Harding, an entrepreneur who never sleeps!
Mike Harding is a degenerate entrepreneur who has been plying his trade for almost 30 years. He is somewhat fickle which has led to a somewhat haphazard career inside the technology industry and a deep background in designing products and services. Presently Mike is experimenting with Oddyssea, an interactive retail shop that boasts a narwhal tusk, the ability to create terrariums, Zoltar the Fortune Teller, and a 3D printer. When not engaging in business, he likes to spend time with his family on the San Mateo County coast.
Hour one: MHOX. Filippo Nassetti, Partner and Lead Desiger
MHOX is a generative design studio. It develops body extensions, objects or systems that integrate the human body to mutate its aesthetic and functional potential. Beyond the boundaries of product design, the studio engages the exploration of processes and conditions of body alteration, mutation and metamorphosis, creating communication actions and educational programs.
Hour two: Appkettle. Richard Hill, Director
XYZE is a new technology for fashion e-commerce that connects your body measurements with the clothes you’d like to buy. XYZE solves the problem of ordering the right size when shopping on-line. XYZE improves the on-line shopping experience, as shopping becomes safe and targeted. It also boosts sales and minimizes returns. All this is possible thanks to the combination of three products: on, the first wearable digital measuring tape, that automatically measures your body; their Tutorial Application, that helps users take their body measurements and create their personal digital profile; their Algorithm, that calculates users’ right size. XYZE matches users’ body measurements with different brands’ sizing specifications, providing their right size in real time.
