Sam Thurman, Cliff Stewart and Lisa Stewart of the Colorado exoneration firm A Just Cause, discuss what happens when the wheels of justice trample unbridled over the rights of innocent Americans.
Although the American system of justice is the most-respected worldwide, it is still a system designed, and operated, by humans, which means it's not perfect. Sam, Cliff, and Lisa will highlight ongoing struggles against "the system" to free wrongfully imprisoned people, and what happens when justice miscarries against an actually innocent person.
Our Special Guest for tonight's show is Arnie Alpert, New Hampshire Program Coordinator, who will be sharing information about our government's federal spending and privatization of prisons in the U.S.
A Just Cause is currently campaigning for "FreeTheIRP6," who's been wrongly imprisoned in Florence, CO for a crime they didn't commit. Read full story: www.freetheirp6.org.

'Feed Your Head' is off tonight. Catch RA (Ruthann Amarteifio) over at 'Here-Be-Monsters on BTR for 'The Ceremony' with Gwendolyn Holden Barry and others as we celebrate the Winter Solstice!!
"Progress Toward Democrcy w/ Brian Stetten and Ruthann RA Amarteifio' is happy to welcome Danny Weil back!!
We begin by Brian Stetten briefly discussing right wing libertarian insanity and the promotion of freedom and democracy for plutocrats only.
Then education/labor activist, and public attorney Danny Weil will discuss picking your poison: Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton. How the plutocrats made a mockery of representative democracy!
Danny Weil is a writer for Project Censored and Daily Censored. He received the Project Censored "Most Censored" News Stories of 2009-10 award for his article: "Neoliberalism, Charter Schools and the Chicago Model / Obama and Duncan's Education Policy: Like Bush's, Only Worse," published by Counterpunch, August 24, 2009.
Dr. Weil has published more than seven books on education in the past 20 years. You can also read much more about the for-profit, predatory colleges in his writings found at Counterpunch.com, Dailycensored.com, dissidentvoice.com and Project Censored.com where he has covered the issue of the privatization of education for years. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
His book, an encyclopedia on charter schools, entitled: "Charter School Movement: History, Politics, Policies, Economics and Effectiveness," 641 pages, was published in August of 2009 by Grey House Publishing, New York, and provides a scathing look at the privatization of education through charter schools.
Tia Lebherz is the Northern California organizer for Food & Water Watch. Based in Oakland, she works to engage activists and hold elected officials accountable on a range of issues across the region including fracking, water privatization fights, and food issues including factory farms and genetic engineering. Prior to joining Food & Water Watch, Tia completed Green Corps, Field School for Environmental Organizing. During her time in Green Corps and the years following she worked extensively in the Midwest organizing on campaigns for clean energy and fair food.
Tia Lebherz is joing us to talk about how Proposition 1 would stick California with a whopping $14.4 billion in total new debt ($7.5 billion plus interest) by taking $360 million per year out of our state budget for the next 40 years. The money to fund Prop 1 will come at the expense of other vital public services like education and health care.
How this is a tricky precedent and a reflection of actions of big business in our nation, today!

In this episode we explore the role of property under capitalism, and how it serves to empower the rich land owning class. We discuss the impact of the privatization of land resources, and what it does to the economy and people in general. And finally we discuss how the concept of ownerhip could be different under a socialist economic system.
