President Barack Obama's Charleston eulogy: 'Amazing Grace'
President Barack Obama delivered a touching eulogy, a rousing political speech and a thoughtful meditation on race in America when he traveled to Charleston, South Carolina on Friday to speak at the funeral of the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who was gunned down last week by a racist terrorist during Bible study.
But the President's speech will be remembered for a moment at the end when the he launched into a solo of "Amazing Grace," that at first stunned the mourners and then brought them to their feet as they joined him in song.
Unlike past times Obama has confronted an act of violence, he knew the highest profile victim of the Charleston shooting personally. Obama met Pinckney as an early supporter of his 2008 presidential bid.
That personal connection differentiated Friday's eulogy from the funerals Obama keynoted after previous shootings. So, too, did the renewed questions on race spurred by the shooter's apparent motivations.
"None of us can or should expect a transformation in race relations overnight. Every time something like this happens, somebody says, 'We have to have a conversation about race,'" Obama said. "We talk a lot about race. There's no shortcut. We don't need more talk."

Sanura and Darnell Lamont Walker discuss police murder victim, Samuel DuBose, President Barack Obama, his apologists, and what's being done on that side of fence at 1600 Pennsylvania. Because there will never be a time we shouldn't discuss racism, race relations, inequality, and persecution, Sandra Bland, Samuel Dubose, and the many others killed by cops are on the table.
And if there is time, and our blood pressure is low, we are getting into:
White men and their fetishes
Tyrese and his music
And of course, the crazy **** that pops up!
Louis Farrakhanresponded to President Obama's endorsement of gay marriage
Minister Louis Farrakhan recently responded to President Obama's endorsement of gay marriage calling him "the first president that sanctioned what the scriptures forbid,"
During an address at the California Convention Center on Sunday, the Nation of Islam leader ridiculed the media for its portrayal of Obama after the announcement, and chastised politicians and clergy for hypocritically supporting gay marriage despite the fact that the Bible forbids it.
Throughout his speech, Farrakhan carefully points out that he does not condone homophobia, saying "I'm not your enemy. I'm your brother, and I do love you." However, he said "sin is sin according to the standard of God."
Farrakhan goes on to call out clergy who support gay marriage, saying they are placing society's needs over God's.
"Is this the book that you believe in, but now you('re) backing down from an aspect of it because people will get offended?" he asked.
He also ridicules Newsweek for mocking Obama with their magazine cover that referred to him as the "first gay president," and attacked politicians who take their oath with their hand on the Bible.
"If the book is no good," he said. "What the hell are you using it for to take an oath of office to uphold, not the Bible, but the constitution?"
Farrakhan's words are a mere addition to a firestorm of responses since Obama officially endorsed gay marriage. The president's announcement has the black church community split down the middle with some clergy speaking out against gay marriage and others asking their congregants not to let Obama's stance affect their vote.
We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe, eat a lot and always give back. We salute soldiers serving overseas and we have hope America can get back to where she belongs as a beacon of Democracy that the entire world can emulate.
U.S. President Barack Obama has been negatively bombarded from all sides. This show will not jump on the bandwaggon critisizing this great American Icon in the making. He has gotten at least 75% of his agenda through WITHOUT the help of Republicans and "bullweivel" Blue Dog Democrats. When it mattered most, so called Progressives in Congress, for the most part, abandoned him and threw him under the bus. A prime example is this past Midterm 2014 Elections. After all that, any humanbeing would implode, lose composure and probably quit. It kills them that he did not and he will not. In life, it's not how many times you get knocked down. But, it's how mant times you get back up, brush yourself off and soldier on. That is the essence of this great leader and legend in the making.
In a recent speech, he will go it alone signing an Executive Order on Immigration since Republicans won't compromise. If they were for something, they are now against it only because Obama is for it. Their actions border on the brink of treason, as they do everything in their power to make our first African-American President of the United States of America look incompetent and weak. This two years will be very interesting. Will it be more gridlock or will compromise be reached to get us back where we need to be economically, socially and politically? Will Obama become a lame duck or an Iconic Legend? Join us!
