Episode 273: Partnership, Influence, Presence and the role of the MSC

    in Military

This week we will return to the “unsexy but important” topic, specifically that of “alternative naval platforms and missions.”

In part, the concepts that underlay Jerry Hendrix’s “Influence Squadrons” are in practice on a smaller scale today. In most cases they are being conducted using Military Sealift Command assets and the Navy Reserve.

To focus on this part of our maritime power, our guest for the full hour will be Commander Chris Rawley, USNR. President of Periplus Holdings in his day job, he is also Commanding Officer of the Military Sealift Command Afloat Mission Command and Control Units in the Navy Reserve, in addition to being Vice President of the Center for International Maritime Security.

    Sunday on the Front Stoop

    in Energy

Do you agree that our freedom & democracy is better than living in a country ruled by a dictator?  Would you be happy living in the Middle East, with ALL that oil under the ground, and having your President replaced by a dictator?  For example, decades ago when a democratically-elected leader of Iran was pulled out and replaced by the Shah of Iran, we got a good price on that oil from Iran.  When the Shah of Iran was nearing the end of his life, he didn't stay in his own country as most of our leaders would.  Instead he traveled to America where he soon died of his illness.

As another example, Saudi Arabia is No. 6 on the list of dictatorships in our world.  They get most of their weapons from countries like ours and we get a low price for the oil from under their ground.  Could this be provoking that sad response that we call "terrorism"?  Instead of sending our boys and girls overseas in the military to get that good price on their oil, why not just switch to solar or wind power?  My friend may sound like a comedian but his response was "Big Oil says we'll have SOLAR when they can put a METER on the sun!"  More from them is at www.pausenergy.org

Consider the human renewable energy measure, hrem, and make it equivalent to what every one on earth needs, education, food and shelter.   Don't let the bullys and gangs continue to enslave future generations as they have done for the past 1,000's of years.  By getting off that oil from under their ground, not only could we stop provoking such "terrorism".  This could also put an end to Climate Change on our planet.

    The number don't add up.

    in Politics

Good morning. Today, on The Meter we cover the recent economic news that seems to contrast with the President's approval numbers. Is there economic recovery or continued stagnation? Also, Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal will be charged with desertion. Bowe Bergdhal was exchanged for 5 terrorists inspite of reports from members of his own unit that he had left his post without permission. President Obama and National Securoty Advisor Susan Rice said repeeatly that Bergdhal had served honorably. Does this exchange threaten national security? Governor Mike Pence (R) IN has signed a bill into law that protects religious freedom. Under the new law no one can be forced to do business if it violates their religious principles. Protests and boycotts are brewing claiming the law discriminates against gay and transgendered citizens. Also, Hillary Clinton was under subpoena to release all documents regarding Benghazi, however she advised Congress that she deleted everything from her server. Was a crime committed. Please join the debate at 9:00 AM. The call in number is (347) 308-8933. Your input is essential.
