Next to oxygen there is no resource more precious on this planet than water. I used to think water would be the least of my worries because I had a magic faucet that spit out clean water until forever. It becomes one those things we are just numb to, like flipping a switch for light. Only when I began to drill down into the real issues with the American water supply did I realize some things. The biggest realization was that, yes, on a planet that's surface is three quarters water there could be and in some parts of the world is a water crisis.

The Precious Blood of Christ
1 Peter 1:19
Standing at the foot of the cross, we see hands, and feet, and side, all distilling crimson streams of precious blood. It is "precious" because of its redeeming and atoning efficacy. By it the sins of Christ's people are atoned for; they are redeemed from under the law; they are reconciled to God, made one with Him.[i]
Christ's blood is also "precious" in its cleansing power; it "cleanseth from all sin." "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Through Jesus' blood there is not a spot left upon any believer, no wrinkle nor any such thing remains. O precious blood, which makes us clean, removing the stains of abundant iniquity, and permitting us to stand accepted in the Beloved, notwithstanding the many ways in which we have rebelled against our God. The blood of Christ is likewise "precious" in its preserving power. We are safe from the destroying angel under the sprinkled blood. Remember it is God's seeing the blood which is the true reason for our being spared. Here is comfort for us when the eye of faith is dim, for God's eye is still the same.

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcome the multi-talented John Schulian to the show. After making his mark in sportswriting and Hollywood, John Schulian has shifted gears and written his first novel, the noirish "A Better Goodbye." It's the tale of lost souls in rarely-seen precincts of Los Angeles, a melting pot stirred by a tragedy-haunted boxer, a college girl moonlighting as a sensual masseuse, a failed actor turned pimp, and a prison-hardened sociopath. "Goodbye" marks the latest turn in the career of the L.A.-born and Salt Lake City-reared Schulian, was regularly in included in E.P. Dutton's annual "Best Sports Stories" anthology, and published a highly-regarded collection of his boxing writing, "Writers' Fighters and Other Sweet Scientists.". He landed at the Philadelphia Daily News long enough to win the 1985 Nat Fleischer Award for Excellence in Boxing Journalism, and then took off for Hollywood at the invitation of Steven Bochco, creator of "Hill Street Blues." Schulian broke into TV with an "L.A. Law" script and was on the writing staffs of "Miami Vice," "The 'Slap' Maxwell Story," and "Wiseguy." He struck gold as a co-creator of "Xena: Warrior Princess,". Schulian later wrote and produced "JAG," "Outer Limits," and "Tremors". "Twilight of the Long-ball Gods," followed by "Sometimes They Even Shook Your Hand." He has also had short stories published in the Prague Revue and on Thuglit and The Classical. Schulian is the editor of "The John Lardner Reader" and co-editor, with George Kimball, of two anthologies, "At the Fights: American Writers on Boxing" and "The Fighter Still Remains".
