    Rivers In a Desert Ministry

    in Religion

    Colossians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

    2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

    4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

    5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

    6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

    7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

    8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

    9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

    10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

    The Word of God and the Tongue of Man

    in Education

    The Word of God:  Cymatics is the study of wave phenomena (esp. sound waves), that involves sprinkling a thin layer of sand (or tiny glass beads) onto a metallic plate, projecting sound waves onto that plate, and observing the organizational patterns which result from various sounds, such as a Mozart symphony.  The patterns produced have incredible structure and symmetry.  In observing this phenomenon, one can visualize how God created Heaven and the Earth with his Word.  String theory and M-theory are modern physicists answer to the mathematical inconsistencies that come between traditional physics and quantum physics (i.e. subatomic particles and planets don’t obey the same laws).  The string theory states that everything is made of vibrations, called “supersymmetric strings”. This theory correlates with the Biblical description of the creation of Heaven and earth with the Word of God:

    John 1:1-4 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.   John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    The tongue of man:

    Matthew 12:36-37 KJV But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

    James 3:6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

    TGP Radio 2015: Pre-Draft Stuff

    in Sports

    Not sure exactly what the format is going to be. Was thinking about a mini-mock draft, covering players of import, and in general what we're looking forward to seeing happen next week.

    As with every show, this could either go according to plan or be completely made up on the spot.  Should be entertaining either way.  Hopefully.

    DLIGU: Government Monopolies and Monopolies on Hurt Feelings

    in Politics

    Show discussing news/politics/culture from the perspective of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Hosted by Amy Peikoff, who is regularly joined by cartoonist Bosch Fawstin.

    Tonight we'll discuss a couple of examples that illustrate the destructiveness and hypocrisy of government-imposed monopolies, followed by a number of examples in which the liberal/PC crowd show that they think they have a monopoly on hurt feelings. See Program Notes at my blog for all the stories, etc., we plan to discuss.

    Gospel of Matthew 5: 1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.3  “Blessed are the poor in spirit,for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
