Beyonce at Super Bowl 50: Money Grab or Activism?

    in Current Events

BEYONCE creates an uproar as she and her dancers adorn BLACK PANTHER garb for their halftime SUPER BOWL 50 performance.  Reported on the heel of the performance was BEYONCE and JAY-Z  donation of $1.5M to the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement.  Many people applauded BEY for making such a political statement on the world's largest stage, however former NEW YORK MAYOR, RUDY GIULIANI called the performance an "ATTACK ON COPS."  Some in the BLACK community found the gyrating performance, distasteful to the BLACK PANTHERS, and felt she was only exploiting the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement to generate interest in her upcoming FORMATION TOUR. Lastly there are others who judged the overall performance as a veil attempt to align the #BLM and GAY RIGHTS MOVEMENT. Beyonce and Jay-Z have they all of sudden becoming conscious, or are they capitalistic vultures?  MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask?  "ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK"

    Relationships & Social Media

    in Culture

When we think about social media, do we ever consider the impact it has on relationships? Whether it be perosnal, business, professional, work etc. What impact does social media have or has on any relationship you had or currently had? When I think about social media I look at it as an outlet for people to share their views and opinions on different topics. It's a way for friends and family to stay connected with one another. Social media has given the entrepreneur an opportunity to reach potential customers.

Does social media reveal who people really are or does it hide it? Has social media turned us into zombies who have lost their identity? Do we look for validation from others or affirmation? How often do you use social media and for what reason? Can people in relationships be friends with each other? Why or why not? Join my co-host and myself as we address the issue of social media and its impact it has on relationships. #DWD

    Talking with Ron Spikes

    in Lifestyle

Life issues are common problems, issues and/or crises that happen to normal people living normal lives.

You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own.

    Michelle Obama

If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort, eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges.

    Pat Riley

You can't please everyone. When you're too focused on living up to other people's standards, you aren't spending enough time raising your own. Some people may whisper, complain and judge. But for the most part, it's all in your head. People care less about your actions than you think. Why? They have their own problems!

    Kris Carr

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were.

    1.      There is no substitute for talent.

    2.      You need a bit of luck and connections.

    3.      But it doesn’t matter if you come from a modest background.

    4.      If you are good you will get the opportunity to succeed, but you must still capitalise on the opportunity.

    5.      In the face of the challenge (childhood illness) persistence pays off.

    6.      Expert opinions are not always worth that much – there is a club out there who regrets passing over on the opportunity to sign the little maestro.

    7.      It is not about the physical ability, but the mental ability.

    8.      His first instinct is to seek the goal: it is uncanny how aware he is of where the goal is even if he has his back to the goal.

    9.      He sees gaps and takes gaps no one sees or takes.

    10.   The highest accolade is not money, but the recognition of your peers. (Not in the shallow, politicised style of the Oscars, but rather the spontaneous acknowledgement of your peers.) In the face of that adulation, his instinctive reaction is one of humility. Watch this and you will see what I mean.
