Please God , Not Two: This Killer Called Alcoholism

    in Spirituality

I am an author and a Motivational Speaker on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. I am the producer, director and co-host to the NBTV-95 Cable TV Station out of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Someone Stop This Merry-Go-Round; An Alcoholic Family in Crisis, is about my young alcoholic marriage to Richard Lopes of North Dighton, Massachusetts and our two daughters, Debbie and Lori. Richie died at 45 years old from cirrhosis of the liver.

The sequel Please, God, Not Two; This Killer Called Alcoholism is the continuation of our lives after Richie’s death, and the story follows Lori going down the same path as her father. Lori died at 39 years old from the same horrible, worldwide disease.

What is and isn’t Working for the Alcoholics and Addicts; Their Own Personal Stories. It’s a book of testimonies from thirty-four recovering addicts from all walks of life from the United States and Canada on their recovery programs. They want to reach doctors, counselors, and family members on what they believe isn’t and hasn’t worked in recovery programs.

I speak privately at halfway homes, substance abuse rehabilitation centers, court-ordered programs, and to the public.

Shattered Lives: Reversal of Parole, Connecticut Cop Killer

    in Writing

Join Host, Donna R. Gore, and guest Attorney Michelle S. Cruze.

The sound of "Amazing Grace" played by a lone bagpiper resonated as a line of  Connecticut law enforcement officers honored the family of slain police officer, Robert Holcomb, as they left a victorious parole hearing for the person responsible for his murder.

In 1977  Gerald "Gary" Castonguay was convicted of shooting Officer Holcomb to death, and in January 2015, without notice to Holcomb's family, the Connecticut Pardon and Parole Board granted him parole beginning in July.

Not only was the family outraged at this decision, but also fellow officers and the general public who campaigned through letters, emails, and calls to oppose Castonguay's release.

Granted a new hearing, the family was able to express their injustice and the parole was rescinded.
