The legendary Africa Bambaataa is notable for releasing a series of genre-defining electro tracks in the 1980s that influenced the development of hip hop culture. Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of breakbeat DJing and is respectfully known as "The Godfather" and "Amen Ra of Hip Hop Kulture", as well as the father of electro funk. Through his co-opting of the street gang the Black Spades into the music and culture-oriented Universal Zulu Nation, he has helped spread hip hop culture throughout the world. Join your host jeremy, Jesse and schelett as they give credit where credit is due and pay homage to the revolutionary figure in hip hop, Africa Bambaataa.
Not so very long ago, students enrolled in university were taught rhetoric. That was of a time when the skill of persuasion was highly valued. It taught the difference between argument and debate. To do this, the student learned how to control their emotion. When an opponent approached the topic with temper, his effectiveness was lost- lose of such control was a vulnerability- the poker player with an obvious 'tell'. Why bring this up Graham? Why now? Good questions that deserve good answers. Today, we are on the cusp of a masonic cultural event. We don't need to doubt whether change is coming. It's already begun. We never have developed a narrative. How do we know? What is masonry? Ask ten masons that question and we get eleven opinions. Why? Because we work without a narrative that describes and operationalizes our philosophy. One of the rules of engagement for our fellows is to avoid controversy. If you have witnessed what happens when such matters are discussed, you know what I mean. Emotion uncontrolled burdens the topic and attempts to stifle discussion of the merit of all sides of the issues. Our narrative may be in fragments simply because we have not promoted the artfulness of rhetoric. Do you think it is stunning that we have a culture hundreds of years old, rich in lessons of ethics, principles, values, purpose, science and the arts and have yet to learn how to debate? Without a form to deal with controversial findings and opinions, we make difficult the capacity to acknowledge the evolution of masonic-culture. Yesterday I sat with a very earnest young mason- young only in years but not judgment. He responded to something said at the table with the muscularity that is typical of a group of men. BUT- after he had let us know he held serious opinions, he was gratefully receptive to debate- restore rhetoric I say!

There are many books of poetry in the bible.. Proverbs and Psalms contain many poems that are relevant and inspiring!
The Spoken Word has become an art form that has evolved throughout history. How we interpret it now may be different than how our forefathers did. Folk culture and story telling has influenced poetry much. Yet the best poetry lies in the influenced word of God.
Where are my People???
My people I am calling on you the ones who I created to worship
You are my people my chosen ones’
Where are you now in this time of need?
So many lost souls, so many hurting and dying souls
They need to be encouraged and acknowledged but yet they’re not
Where are my People, the chosen?
Those who I have ordained and given grace and mercy too?
You are my treasures and in you I believe
Lately you have shown me a lack of obedience
But that’s ok!! I have already girded you with all you need
It is time and the choice is yours
The season has come and a nation of healers must rise up
Healers to the people who are lost and don’t know me in the
Pardon of their sins…Yes you must choose to fight in this army
I don’t take prisoners, my job is freeing them
From inner most spiritual wars and conflicts
Where are my people? Will you rise up and be heard?
Will you rise up and make a difference
Will you rise up and stand for me?
Standing for the Christ, The Holy Spirit, and Yahweh
Or will you just succumb to the plans of the adversary?
I know the battle is hard and people are watching
But I tell you the truth when you ride with me
None of that even matters …just trust in Yah
And know everything will be alright.....
Too often we pick up the habits of the culture around us instead of transforming that culture into the kingdom culture. I hear the children of God jumping on the bandwagon of modern society and declaring, "the struggle is real" in reference to the day to day living in lack and insufficiency. But for the child of God who is kingdom-minded, lack is not your portion It is time to begin declaring a new mantra, "The Struggle Is Over." Tune in to Waves of Glory with Apostle EJ Melvin to hear what God has to say about the "struggle."
