The Redemption of Pontius Pilate -- Write Stuff -- 6/9/2015

    in Entertainment

"I wash my hands of thee", is a saying that is attributed to the ever famous political figure, Pontius Pilate. However, nowhere in the Bible does Pilate ever say that. In fact, it's a saying that somehow morphed over the years as something he said.

But what is the real story behind this man? What was his life really like? What can we learn from his actions and what does history tell us?

Join me as we delve into the fascinating life of Pontius Pilate, and separate the truth from fiction with my guest co-host and contributor, historian Lewis Smith, author of the book The Redemption of Pontius Pilate. Call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app. Tune in!

3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

    The Christian Profession of Faith

    in Christianity

What is in the profession of the Christian Faith?  Did you know that each line of the creed means something?

We believe in God, the Father almighty. creator of heaven and earth.  We believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord.  He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virigin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died ans was buried.  He descended into hell.  On the third day he rose again.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father.  He will come to judge the living and the dead.  We believe in the Holy Spirit the holy catholic Church, the communion of the saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Stay Tune to find out what all these parts mean.

WasYeshua/Jesus Crucifixion Colonial Conquest Murder Not Salvation

    in Religion

Saint Paul said not even the princes of earth knew about Jesus' birth or Pilate would not have killed him. But all bible believing people think that all prophesied widely and anounced the coming of the Messiah Christ,  and there is the wise men who came to King Herod for direction to find the baby. That was before Pilate's time, so how the scripture writes such strong contradiction and many other sayings which reject  the idea that no one knew. So that lie and the idea that the Romans who plundered Israel and later confessed to their sins against the world still sit as  the vicar of Christ church. Why people fail to see migrants of Africa turn prodigals evil doers invented business organizations by inventing God, world people sin and curse jesus the devil and salvation.

Crucifixion (Matt. 27:33–66) on Probing the Prophets with Rod MacArthur

    in Religion

In a effort to appease the angry mob, Pilate offered to release one of two men, hoping they would choose Jesus. Instead, they shouted for Barrabas. "What shall I do with Jesus?" Pilate asked. "Away, away; crucify Him" they chanted.

It wasn't a pretty sight, the night the light's went out in Jeruaslem! They lied about Jesus, beat Him, scourged Him, spit on Him and mocked Him. He stood like God's Man and took it.

Many people watched and responded differently. Priests, elders and scribes mocked. Women watched. Roman soldiers shook with fear. (And dead people were raised after Jesus!)

Then, they took Him down, wrapped Him up and intered Him in a new, not-yet-used tomb.

    Milling About with Ted Neeley

    in Entertainment

It's been 42 years since the original cast and crew of the 1973 film Jesus Chris Superstar have all been in the same room together, and tonight (April 27), Director Norman Jewison, Ted Neeley (Jesus,) Yvonne Elliman (Mary Magdalene,) Barry Dennen (Pontius Pilate,) and Josh Mostel (King Herod); to name a few, will reunite for a special screening at the Beekman theater in New York City.

Getting the band back together so to speak would've happened much sooner for Ted whose boundless enthusiasm for what he calls his life-changing role has never left. He tells host Robin Milling, “I've been trying to get this reunion to happen since the film came out. I've been trying to get all of us together to do another production; if nothing else just to hang out for a few days. It's never happened until now. And the fact that we'll all be in the same place at the same time with Norman is a miracle!”

Miracles have been known to happen in the life of Jesus Christ, but it almost didn't happen for Ted who reveals he almost missed out on being cast in the iconic role. He also tells Robin how he met his wife of over 40 years, Leeyan Granger on the set and how their two children have been happily following dad's adventures as a superstar.

Most actors run from one role defining their legacy but Ted has embraced Jesus, still performing the role wherever and whenever he can; most recently touring Italy for a year. He says joyfully, “It completely changed my life, spiritually, personally. So why slap that in the face? And I still love it; every performance is like the first time all over again. That music starts to play and I just lift off the ground, 'ok take me wherever you want me to go!”

    THE POWER OF THE KINGDOM

    in The Bible

In our day, the truth of the power of the Kingdom of God needs to sound like a trumpet. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear in looking after the things that are coming upon the earth, and many of the Lord’s people are also filled with fear. The elect of God, those who are walking in the Spirit and following on to know the Lord, are seeing HIM before whom all nations are as a drop in a bucket — who with infinite care and divine purpose created the vastnesses of the limitless universe and the wheeling constellations and calleth them all by name. For who has yet arrived from the Other World to announce that God has been outsmarted by the devil, and that His Kingdom is in danger or disarray? Only One has come, and He has come with power and glory, and with a word that the Kingdom of the Father ruleth over all! To the great Roman Procurator, Pilate, who declared that he had the power to crucify the Lord of glory, Jesus said, "Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above" (Jn. 19:11).
