Police used to be called Peace Officers, and the intention was that they would maintain the peace. Today, the image of Officer Friendly helping a little lost child is long gone. Now social media sites are flooded with cell phone captured images of police brutally beating unarmed citizens into submission as observers watch in horror. This is not normal behavior. Perhaps labeling it as racism and racial profiling is too simplistic. Citizens in countries occupied by American troops abroad have voiced the same accusations of excessive brutality inflicted on citizens in the name of "keeping the peace" but it is this behavior that provokes violent reactions, distrust and hatred for American soldiers. The same distrust and hatred is being expressed toward police in many urban areas where complaints of police brutality seem to have escalated. Does the job of controlling people using the threat of force create emotional distress that leads to excessive aggression? Can it lead an officer to "snap"? How do police department administrators recognize signs of "battle fatigue" in officers and pull them off of street duty? How many complaints of brutality is too many? Should officers be required to undergo periodic psychological examinations
This Friday's Critical Conversations begins with Texans Dr. Jim Picht and attorney James Edwards discussing the indictment of Governor Rick Perry.
Perry has been indicted for "coercion" and abuse of power because he refused to fund the office of DA Rosemary Lehmberg after losing confidence following her belligerent behavior during a DUI arrest.
A grand jury indicted Texas governor Rick Perry this week on abuse of power charges, and he was arraigned on Wednesday complete with mug shot and fingerprints.
Perry has been supported by some surprising liberal leaders, including Alan Dershowitz, but has also been slammed by others.
Staying stateside, the conversation will move to Ferguson, Missouri and the clashes between police and residents following the killing of 18 year-old Michael Brown.
Our guest tonight will be Kerry Trahan a 1988 graduate of West Point Military Academy. He served 11 years active and reserve service as an office in the United States Army. He is a graduate of the military police officers advance course.
The question of the relationship between police and resident is under a bright light and Kerry and Jim Picht will talk about whether Darren Wilson could have had options other than using lethal force with Michael Brown.
We hope you will listen in to the live show, Friday evening at 6:30 pm (right here) and call in with your thoughts.
We are then going to turn to the Middle East and ISIS. Communities Editor in Chief Lisa Ruth, a former CIA analyst and intelligence expert, who will join Jim and Kerry to discuss the threat of ISIS, the beheading of photojournalist Jim Foley.

Today on "It's My House" we shall have a "Homeowner Law Clinic" to discuss "understanding the Police".
Many people get mad or frustrated with the police because they expect the Police to be a certain way or do certain things of which many times they are not empowered to do. Often times people will call the police to handle something that might have happened in your home. They come out, the person makes a complaint, but there is no arrest..........and maybe that is what the person wanted............an arrest.
We shall discuss what the Police CAN and CAN NOT DO when a homeowner makes a call to our local Police.
Are you fed up with police brutality, abuse of power, cover ups and the general mistreatment of the public by those who are supposed to "Protect & Serve"?
In light of recent events, this week on Playing Devil's Advocate™ hosted by Ms. KiKi, the crew will discuss the despicable acts perpetrated by the police that have become all to common place. We will explore, why these things keep happening how we can prevent them and what to do when they happen to you or your loved ones!
Also, be prepared to discuss how we can become more involved by developing and implementing actual solutions that will eradicate this issue. As always your input is needed and appreciated, so please join us for "Police: Peace Officers or Menace To Society?"

The Murder of Michael Brown & Eric Garner: Are the Police Taliban, or Al Qaeda? Who do you fear most?
In the 1960's it was the act of a MARCH, PROTEST, BOYCOTT AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES that brought CHANGES
This episode will discuss the murder of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Eric Garner was murdered for voicing his concern about being targeted by police and for an alleged prior possession of untaxed cigarettes, which led to a death sentence. Michael Brown was murdered allegedly with his hands in the air and also while unarmed. He was shot six times with a fatal bullet to the 18 year old head. We will discuss the ongoing problems associated with untrained police officers who encounter unarmed people and police citizen encounters in America. Garner wanted to know why he was being harassed and he suffered a life sentence for merely questioning police officers and why are Americans under attack by their local police who are commissioned to protect and serve the community. However, it appears that local police departments are armed military forces who target their communities like terrorist. Who do you fear the Taliban, Al Qaeda or your local police? A side bar, in Georgia a bomb was thrown threw a window of a home occupied by a family to enforce a search warrant. A child suffered severe injuries!
We will also cover why 12 NYPD officers were required to respond to the home of a Brooklyn grandmother and force her from her home and the Protest against the Shooting death of an unarmed teen in Ferguson Missouri

In this podcast of "It's My House" we shall be conducting a Community Law Clinic. Our Law Clinics are (study groups) and we give no legal advice.
In light of the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri we shall continue discussion on "Understanding The Police". Included in our talk for today we shall cover "Homicide Distinctions".
Everyone in the community should know the basics of understanding what the Police can and can not do, plus know the basics of anything they maybe be talking about.
We also invite our listeners to take a short quiz with us today to make sure you are clear on what was discussed.
While Ferguson, Missouri continues to draw national attention, further incidences of violence and death at the hands of police has ignited protest around the country. Are police above the law when it comes to respecting human rights? Author Iyanla Vanzant of the TV show Fix My Life suggested to protesters in Ferguson that victims of police abuse file a class action lawsuit. Is that a viable strategy to end racial profiling? Can a lawsuit change engrained attitudes of hate and disrespect? What can be done to improve human relations between police and citizens who have been historically subjected to violation of constitutional rights? Guests Debbie Frazin of Surrender 2 Love and Warren Houston of Know Thyself Radio discuss the issues
With everything going on in the country today we thought that it would be a good idea to have an episode on Police and the community. The police are supposed to be there to make you feel safe, comfortable and protected. However, some members of our communities are scared, in danger and feel unprotected. Some people see the police as the good guys, some view them as the bad guys. We are going to have a great discussion on this today. We will touch on what makes people feel the way they do about the police and how we can improve relationships between community memebers and the police officers who serve them.
We'll talk a little bit about Michael Brown and the others that have been in police involved brutality, shootings or confrontations.
Of course the police will always have people that dislike them (the criminals) because they hinder their plans of breaking the law. However, the police shouldn't have a stigma of not being fair to certain people or have the community scared when they cross paths with an officer.
