Nicholas Snow presents exclusive audio of a Q&A with Citizenfour Director Laura Poitras, which took place as part of the Talking Pictures program at the 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival. As Leaksource reported and as millions around the world witnessed, Laura Poitras "won an Academy Award for her documentary Citizenfour, an inside look at National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden. The film, which has been hailed as a real-life thriller, chronicles Snowden’s effort to securely contact Poitras and Glenn Greenwald in 2013 and meet them in Hong Kong, where Poitras filmed Snowden discussing the thousands of classified NSA documents he was leaking to them, and his motives for doing so. The film takes its title from thepseudonym Snowden used when he contacted Poitras in encrypted emails that were revealed in her documentary."

Owing to a painful confrontation with his mortality, caused by a bungled surgical procedure which required nineteen days of hospitalization back in 2009, Den felt both compelled and obliged to write down, and post on the web, the full extent of his knowledge regarding parthenogenesis. There are no experts in this field, and he certainly doesn't claim to be one, nevertheless, at present, it represents over 40 years of searching, re-searching and contemplation. You should know this rare "subject of subjects" is as bottomless as the sea.
Join us as we explore this fascinating subject with Den.
DIgby discusses Citizen Four, the 2015 Academy Award winning documentary featuring Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald. The program also includes an excerpt, and discussion of, the late David Carr's interview with director Laura Poitras, Greenwald and Snowden.
Den Poitras calls himself a radical male feminist who believes in parthenogenesis. Well, he doesn't really just believe in it - one of his best friends might possibly have accomplished it. Tune in to hear about his life experiences that led to this revelation, including delving into medical mysteries of women, his theories on raw food that lives comes only from life and how that plays a part in parthenogenesis, and his appreciation for the quote of America's genius inventor, Buck Minister Fuller: "Give men their gadgets and inventions, let women run the world." He'll talk matriarchy vs patriarchy aka unconditional love verses conditional love, breatharians, celibacy, yoga, Jesus, Mary and the Essenes and the implications of parthenogenesis.
From hilarious start, to heart-rending conclusion, this is a truly unusual installment of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour. Dean and Phil attempt to unravel the mystery of the US Air Force X-37B Space Plane, try to solve disturbing audio problems, try to make sense of the deaths of the very talented Elizabeth Pena and Misty Upham, and try to get through lengthy and sometimes creepy emails regarding such topics as David Cronenberg, Edward Snowden, Oliver Stone, “The Wire” and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. Somehow, during all of that, “Gracepoint” gets dissected, David Byrne’s True Stories gets celebrated, Jason Bateman’s Bad Words gets remade and The Revenge of the Electric Car gets a new title!

New York Times has a great profile on Laura Poitras, the documentary film maker who helped orchestrate the story that allowed Edward Snowden to leak NSA secrets. It got me thinking about how we Americans are changing our parent child relationship with our government.
The other day I referred to those who "evince zero interest in the substance of the revelations about NSA and GCHQ spying which we're reporting on around the world", but "are instead obsessed with spending their time personally attacking the journalists, whistleblowers and other messengers who enable the world to know about what is being done." There are dozens of examples, one of whom is the author of a post this week at Pando.com which accuses me and Laura Poitras of having "promptly sold [the Snowden] secrets to a billionaire", Pierre Omidyar, and claims we made "a decision to privatise the NSA cache" by joining Omidyar's new media organization and vesting it with a "monopoly" over those documents.Glen Greenwalt
Who “owns” the NSA secrets leaked by Edward Snowden to reporters Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras?Given that eBay founder Pierre Omidyar just invested a quarter of a billion dollars to personally hire Greenwald and Poitras for his new for-profit media venture, it’s a question worth asking.
It’s especially worth asking since it became clear that Greenwald and Poitras are now the only two people with full access to the complete cache of NSA files, which are said to number anywhere from 50,000 to as many as 200,000 files.Later, from his hideout in Russia, Snowden released a statement claiming he had left all the NSA files behind in Hong Kong for Greenwald and Poitras to take.A Greenwald-Omidyar partnership is as hard to swallow as if Chomsky proudly announced a new major venture with Sheldon Adelson, on grounds that it’s a “once-in-a-career dream academic opportunity.”Pando.com
