Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Pang!

    in Health

Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Founder of Miclknight, where Health and Wellness are one. I am an Educator, Speaker, Radio Show Host, Fitness Trainer and a full circle health coach.

    Today’s topic: Pang

What does it have to do with Get Healthy Now?

Why this sound? How does it make you feel?

Something or someone comes to an abrupt stop.

    Then what?

X-Rays, shoulder dislocated, stiff due to 15 hrs delay

ER Dr tried 3 x, put me out, shoulder in.

Why am I telling this story?  Ways to get redirected after a pang. My reflections: glad it was not worse, glad I could get up, happy shoulder was put back in place, life goes on. After every fall or pang, get up and do, be and give your best again. No need to get depressed, no need to feel sorry for yourself, look at your life being fully balanced and bounce back. I chose my balance over imbalance just because I was in pain.

In every situation we get to chose the outcome as long as we live.

    Your choice?

Start laughing as quickly as possible as it releases the good, healing endorphins. It also helps you balance quicker and the pain subsides faster.

OK, what comes after Pang? Get up!

Don’t let a fall hinder you from following your dream. Sometimes we need to fall forward to get stronger and better at what we are doing,

    Pang! / Get up!

Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Bread Recipe

    in Health

Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Founder and CEO of Miclknight. I am an Educator, Speaker, Radio Show Host, Author and a full-circle Health Coach.

    Today’s topic: Recipes

    original bread recipe:

    4 cups flour

    2 eggs

    2 tsp salt

    2 tsp Fleishman’s dry yeast

    2 Tbl sugar

    12 oz lukewarm liquid

    Second version:

    3 cups flour

    ½ cup oats

    ½ cup rye flour

    Third version: same as 2

    6 scoops flax seed meal

    13 Tbl water = 2/3 cup

    Fourth version

    3 cups bread flour

    ½ cup oats

    1/2 cup coconut flour

½ cup ground up avocado seeds

Fifth version: divide into 4, roll out each piece, then sprinkle some cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins and a cut up fruit on flat piece, roll up, put back into pan but without the hook. Do this with all 4 pieces. Push it all down a bit, close lid, then set on 80 min bake.

Due to high blood pressure I have been leaving the salt out. We don’t need a preservative, as we cut the bread into slices when it’s cold and freeze it so it stays fresh. Put it in the toaster when ready to eat and it tastes like fresh out of the oven again!

Let me know how your bread turned out!

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1231

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Debra Monk from Enfield, New Hampshire, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse from multiple perpetrators over several years throughout her early childhood and into her early teens. She's now become an anti-abuse advocate who's now writing a series of children's books addressing a topic that's close to her heart. "Most of my abusers were direct or close family members," Debra says. She explains the new book series for children touches on the tough but important topic of family violence and abuse, and what that might look like through the eyes and perspective of a child. That's because Debra eventually came to understand that there was a systematic cycle of abuse within her family that had already been going on for many generations. "I'll address family violence, such as domestic and intimate partner violence, sibling abuse, sexual abuse, incest, neglect and physical abuse. Abuse and malnourishment can create patterns and characteristics that when, if not dealt with appropriately may cause repeated cycles or systems of family violence and abuse to occur later on and well into their adulthood lives." Debra's published before. Her work "A Journey of Poetry from an Adult Survivor of Sexual Abuse" is available as an e-book and author Caroline De Chavigny included Debra's missive in her book, "Letter to a Monster." Debra says her mission and goal is to create positive change that reduces the risk for violence in already broken and volatile homes.

    in Prayer

Blessings abound in our lives. The day of our birth was a day of great blessing to our parents and to us - new life! We don't ask for air to breathe; it is just there. We see the beauty of creation and it shines forth whether we acknowledge it or not. Every day is stuffed full of "freebies" in the blessing line.

That's great but would you like more? There are additional blessings for the taking but we have to ask for them. A lady named Achsah in the Bible took full advantage. Of course, I think she came by her feistiness naturally because she was the daughter of that great warrior Caleb.

After Caleb took possession of the portion of the Promised Land assigned to him he promised his daughter in marriage to the man who would capture a particular city. Othniel took the challenge and got a new wife and together they received their land. It was quite a good inheritance but Achsah pushed further.

She went to her father and said; "'Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land of the Negev, give me also springs of water.'" (Joshua 15:19) Some might see her as pushy or greedy but her father didn't see it that way. He was delighted; he could see that the apple hadn't fallen far from his tree.

The Bible says "So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs." She got more because she asked for more. We should follow her example. Be grateful for every single blessing you have and thank God every day. Then go beyond. There are plenty more blessings there for the asking. Join us for live prayer Mon.-Fri. Dial 714.459.3963.
