All Hot Tub Brands Are Not The Same - Tips for First Time Buyers
You’re not alone if you’re wondering how to choose the right hot tub without spending a fortune. Here are a few pointers for first time buyers.
Look For Energy Efficient Models to Save You Money
Brands that offer LED lighting, pumps and heaters that prioritize energy use and use quality insulation for retaining heat will cut operating costs from day one.
Jets: Think Quality Not Quantity
It’s far more important that the jets in the tub are positioned where you need them most and that you can enjoy a customized massage than it is to have hundreds of jets.
Quality Dealers Mean Quality Brands
Buying from a reputable dealer with service technicians in-house ensures when you have a question or need service, you can get it resolved.

On this edition of Lavender Hill Corwin and Phil were joined in the studio by Vadra Stutzman and Buffy Cranford, president and vice president of Lincoln's Star City Pride. This year's theme is "Corn this Way", a play on Lady GaGa's "Born this Way." Star City Pride starts Friday 11 July with a family picnic at First Plymouth in Near South Lincoln followed by a street dance outside the Panic Bar and continues through Sunday with events at the Panic and Karma Club and Cabaret. Saturday starts off with a family friendly Pride in the Park sponsored by Outlinc at Tragor Park followed by a street festival outside the Panic at 4pm with a beer garden and a kid zone. The street festival will include 15 vendors, live entertainment, and speakers from the local LGBTQA community. Lavender Hill will be one of the vendors, representing KZUM and all the wonderful community programming available through the radio station. Events will wrap up Sunday evening with a Post Pride Party at Karma in downtown Lincoln.
Lavender Hill airs live every Sunday at 11am Central on KZUM (89.3 FM in the Lincoln, NE area). You can find information about the show on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Be sure to tune in the 13th for our post pride wrap with special guest Jason McMorris (aka Jezi Bel).
Harness powerful spiritual energies during this time of the month to clear the energies of separation. This Month’s Meditation accesses the Christ Energy of Love and activavates our hearts with goodwill to self, others and the planet. This is the thrid in a series of the three most powerful full moon energies of the year following the energies of Easter and Wesak. This full moon culminates in flow of energy through humanity as goodwill in action. It is known as World Invocation Day, or the Festival of Goodwill aligning humanity in “restoring” the Plan on earth!

Joy Radio is honored to be interviewing Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick at 11 AM, EDT, on May 20th, pub date release of her newest novel, GOING ON NINE:
On a sweltering St. Louis afternoon, a child swipes her mother's ring, snatches her sister's nightgown, and runs outside to play "bride." She promptly loses the ring, rips the gown, assumes it’s about to rain daggers, and runs away from home to find a 'better' family. What happens next is a summer-long journey around her deceptively sleepy neighborhood, during which Grace Townsend travels on foot and by horseback, rides shotgun in a shiny new Plymouth Belvedere, hunkers in the back of a rattletrap vegetable truck, crawls into a crumbling tunnel, treks out to a fire in the hinterlands, explores the closet of a prom queen, keeps vigil in the bedroom of a molestation victim, and helps tame a killer dog. Those are a few of the reasons Grace will remember the summer of 1956 for the rest of her life, and why adults and older YA readers will love Going on Nine (May, 2014, Familius).
Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick was born, reared, and schooled in St. Louis, the second of six children. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, she has been a staff feature writer for daily newspapers in Hannibal, St. Louis, and Milwaukee. Her articles, stories and essays have appeared in newspapers throughout the United States, and in St. Louisan Magazine, Lessons From My Parents (2013, Familius), Ruminate, The Vocabula Review, Prick of the Spindle, Sew News, Fan Story, Yesterday’s Magazette, Reminisce Magazine, All Things Girl, and in four Outrider Press Black and White anthologies.

It's Thursday on the Brian The Hammer Show as Brian welcomes his guest today:
-Ion Baleanu, Actor, Voice Artist, Musician, Author. As a child of 3 yrs in Romania Ion's Father witnessed a murder by some Securitate (Secret Police) and he wanted justice. Not knowing this was something ordered by mid-level government bureaucrats he thought he was following the chain of command by reporting it. Through this they tried to get "rid" of him by putting him in a mental institution, putting Ion's family in orphanages, etc to shut him up so he sought political asylum in the US.
What Ion learned from his life experiences:
-Our family's escape from communist Romania; Fortitude and never give up. When you are told you can't, show them you can!
-Homeless as a teenager; Find the Fight in You! Although Ion had nowhere to live he still found a way to live and survive each day.
-The death of his son Elijah of Anenecephaly in 2005 (Anencephaly is a condition where a baby is born without a skull, mostly dur to a lack of folic acid in the mother prior to conception. As tragic as that was for Ion he learned the he can't let it keep him in a funk!
All these life lessons have taught Ion that he doesn't belong to himself, that he is on this earth to help others. Through his various art forms he touches others.
Ion's most recent project is being selected to be involved with Asociatia Romanilor din New England. He is also involved in a play "The Annulment", written by Plymouth playwright Sheila Kelleher. Ion is taking character classes with well known voice over Wren Ross. Ion is also starting his own food line. And would like to one day open his own technical school.
Of all Ion's accomplishments he is happy to have reconnected with his daughter on live national TV on the hit show "Mobbed" starring Howie Mandel

As KZUM celebrates 36 years on the air in Lincoln, NE, Lavender Hill also celebrates 3 years at KZUM. Corwin and Phil are thrilled that the show has been on for three years now and are looking forward to another three years (and much more) at KZUM. KZUM combined their 36 anniversary week with their Spring pledge drive. It is not too late to make a pledge to KZUM. You can do so online by clicking the donate button on the station's website or by calling KZUM during business hours at 402-474-5086 (see website for hours). Please note online or in our call that you are donating in Lavender Hill's name.
To help celebrate 3 years on the air, Russ Roberts of Plymouth Pride Fellowship, the LGBTQIAA church group associated with 1st Plymouth in Lincoln, NE and Chris Chapek, politcal consultant to Nebraska State Sentator Danielle Conrad, visited with your hosts. Russ came to talk about PPF's potluck, politics and updates dinner on Sunday 23 February 2014. He also introduced Corwin and Phil to Chris. Chris visted to discuss LB485, the bill currently in committee for the Unicameral Legislature that would amend Nebraska's non-discrimination law to include protections for sexual orientation and gender identity.
Corwin and Phil would like to thank the KZUM members who pledged their support during the show (the one's they know of at the time of this podcast going live) Joan, Russ, and Ron.
