    Episode 33 - #OpUnmanned or Playing a Deadly Game of #Drones

    in War

Tonight we tackle the multifaceted issue of unmanned aerial vehicles, or Drones. They have gained a place in history as one of the most hated, loved, and misunderstood pieces of equiptment our society has ever created. It is important to distinguish what a person is referring to when they talk about drones. This is due to the fact that the term is a blanket reference to pretty much anything that has locomotion, and is either remotely controlled, or runs a predetermined program for it's operation. This means that everything from a small hobbyists $20 RC helicopter to General Atomics multi billion dollar fleet of Predator drones all fall under this banner.

Though we will touch on the topic of smaller 'flying camera' drones, but our main topic tonight will be the larger, CIA and military driven UAVs and their role in the so-called 'War on Terror'.

We have Brandon Bryant as our guest tonight. He knows all too well how these are used and how the operations are carried out. He should, he used to be a drone pilot. He will talk about his experiences with turning targets into 'bug splat', and the consequences, not just to those on the ground, but the scars he now bears daily with the resulting PTSD. Many studies have revealed that the PTSD most drone operators suffer from might be worse than those in hand to hand combat. It is an honor and with much gratitude that we welcome him to the show tonight.

While Brandon is not a leaker of top secret documents, he is definitely a whistleblower in the truest sense of the word. He is calling attention to the hipocrisy and deceit being propagated by the US and it's President, wherein they contend that drone strikes are a precision surgical instrument, equal to excising a cancer while leaving the remaining tissue intact. This is a lie. All males over 13 years of age are not 'militants'. Weddings are not target practice.

IWS Radio isn't Dead, it Just Smells Funny

    in Comedy

There's too much and not enough going on in the world right now. Well, at least in Matt-Man and Jayman's worlds. So, Matt and Jay are just hanging out shootin' the breeze and talking about whatever they think of this week. Maybe they'll touch on politics or sports or pop culture or just do some navel gazing. Who knows? One thing we do know is it will be funny. Probably.

April is National Poetry Month so there will be some rhyming going on and maybe even some hot haiku action! You just never know with these two talented and irreverent guys. Matt and Jay are obsessed with so many things yet they are very easily distracted. You have to pay close attention or you'll get lost trying to keep up wtih them.

There might be some trips down memory lane too. Matt and Jay and the gang might revisit some old ideas like "The Third Person Show" or maybe "The NPR Show." Or maybe they won't! That's just how wacky those two are! There will also be bad songs of the week and a discussion about Jayman's sudden love of punk rock and Frank Zappa.

Canadian Bureau Chief Jamie Mapleleaf and the IWS Players will be along to help entertain the masses. They've got a blank canvas this week and I know you can't wait to see what these artists paint this week. We know it won't be a boring old landscape and there won't be any happy little accidents! Plus they'll be taking your calls! The phone lines are always open at 661.244.9852!

Timmon's Brothers Paul Revere and the Raiders: Musical Revolution – Part I

    in Music

Paul Revere and the Raiders: An American Musical Revolution – Part I (1961- 1967 ‘The Classic Years’ ”)

Labeled by Paul Shaffer of The David Letterman Show as “the greatest show band of all time,” Paul Revere and the Raiders became the vanguard of America’s response to the British Invasion with one of the most exciting live shows in the business. Their hits are now seen as bold, unpretentious pieces of '60s rock & roll with a defiant, punk edge, which would become the foundation for the development of punk rock. Although they experienced disappointment when they saw another version of “Louie, Louie” become a national hit, they bounced back to sell records in numbers second only to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones during their three biggest years (1966-1969) while garnering more TV appearances than any other rock ‘n’ roll band from 1965- 1968. Tonight, in Part I, we focus on the years when a band with a Northwest U.S.A. origin grew so highly in popularity that each member’s charm and fame would rival the Beatles with their own fan clubs and constant appearances in every teen magazine.
