Start with the Chart; How charting empowers you to gain Fertility Literacy

    in Nutrition

Start with the Chart;  How charting empowers you to gain Fertility Literacy. When we say The Pill, we all know which drug(s) we are talking about; Birth Control. The pill is so often prescribed, it doesn't even need clarification! But what are the downsides and why are women changing their minds?

On this episode of Eating for Meaning, I am headed back to one of my original passions in my naturopathic medicine career, Fertility! Fertility Literacy is a growing area for women of childbearing years, as dangers of the pill grow they want to do it the Red Tent way, free of hormones. Just ask my guest, Dr. Nora Jane Pope ND. She says "Start with the Chart!" to get to know your body and gain fertility literacy.

Nora Jane Pope, ND, is a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor in private practice in Toronto since 2002. She has a special interest in women’s health, epilepsy, Marfan syndrome, fertility literacy, and harnessing drug-herb interactions to increase treatment efficacy. She is an Natural Fertility Practice advocate and looks forward to the day when all women attain fertility literacy and know when they are fertile.

Medicine for the Mind with Dr. Wayne from Harvard

    in Health

Living in the 21st century means less time, more stress; less standing more sitting; less walking more driving; less slow food, more fast food and less face time more Facebook. All this adds up to a very poor state of mind, body and health. Leading to a slew of health problems from depression, aches and pains, heart diseases and the list goes on. Finding a solution in a pill or a surgery could seem smart but not always wise. As one explores holistic / complementary approaches to issues of the mind and body and health, very naturally we are confused with what works and what doesn’t, who to believe and what to believe? This dilemma holds us back from taking our first step towards trying out holistic approaches even though they have been scientifically proven to help heal us. Today, on the show we are discussing Tai Chi, Yoga and meditation with experts who will answer a lot of our burning questions and hopefully bring clarity to this very important issue of our time.

Peter Wayne, PhD is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He is the Director of Research for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine jointly based at the HMS and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His research to date, supported by more than 20 NIH grants, has focused on evaluating how Tai Chi and related mind-body practices clinically impact a variety of chronic health conditions, and understanding the physiological, mechanical, and psychological mechanisms underlying mind-body practices’ therapeutic effects. Peter has more than 35 years of training experience in Tai Chi and Qigong, and is an internationally recognized teacher of these practices. He is also author of the recently published book, “Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi”.

On the panel are Dr. Carol Horton and Morgan Dix.

KINGS IN THE MORNING - News/ State Of The Union/ Are U Honest With U / WILD WED

    in Radio

I know what you're thinking... you're thinking these guys are CIRCUS CLOWNS.  They laugh and giggle, they say HELL and DAMN and other words, and you just don't know whether or not to keep listening, then Jay King starts talking about equality and racial conversations - he starts exposing things that other people are not talking about and you yell out, WHOA!!!  And you can't stop.  Listening to KINGS IN THE MORNING can really be addictive.  Jay has a slant on President Obama, which I don't agree with, but I do agree with his view on Pill Cosby.  By the way Johnny Guitar Caressing Davis (no, I'm kidding, it's G.raham C.racker), came up with that name, Pill, we all thought that was funny and it is.  Cross views and cross dressing Robert Redwine all here on Gilligan's Isle.  347-205-9366 - What's your political view?  What do you think about people shooting the police, or the police shooting unarmed victims?  Oh well, another day on the network.  Whew!  I betcha you're thinking, when is he going to stop writing!  347-205-9366.

Then, one of the favorites - WILD WEDNESDAY with Johnny Davis... going strong!
