    Lessons from the Thanksgiving Pilgrims

    in Christianity

Join us with guest Paul J. Scharf as we celebrate Thanksgiving and consider five things we can learn from the Pilgrims. These lessons speak to modern Christian life. Join us as we explore the motive and methods of the Pilgrims which led them to that fateful step unto Plymouth Rock in 1620. Along the journey, we will also explore some of the areas of theology which dispensationalists reject. This will be a fascinating historical "refresher course" in the Pilgrim church, and the blessing that is ours today because of their Mayflower journey.

Paul Scharf is a writer and Bible teacher, and a graduate of Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Faith Baptist Theological Seminary.

To make this Thanksgiving a little more special say GRACE BEFORE and AFTER MEALS expressing your gratitude for all the blessings in your life.

It all began with the pilgrims who came over from England in 1621...394 years ago.  The pilgrims shared a feast in the fall time, probably October of that year with the Wampanoag Indians.  Although this was technically the first Thanksgiving...

Turkey and pie did not occur until...etc.

    A way to honor pilgrims...etc.

    The first Thanksgiving...etc.

New York was the first state to...etc.

    The Thanksgiving Show

    in Spirituality

According to Wikipedia, 'Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. It is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday in Novemberr in the United States. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations.' We will discuss the history of Thanksgiving, and why it still resonates so strongly almost 400 years after the Mayflower first landed on the shores of Cape Cod, in present-day Massachusetts as well as the history of the Pilgrims and Native Americans that makes Thanksgiving a holiday that brings together people of all nations, creed and backgrounds in order to celebrate who we are as people and as ONE RACE--the Human Race. So join me for this special Thanksgiving Show and I hope we can keep the Thanksgiving spirit throughout the entire year!

O YE DRYBONES : The Real Thanksgiving with special guest DR.DAVID IMHOTEP

    in Current Events

Starting with the Pilgrims not only leaves out the Indians, but also the Spanish. In the summer of 1526 five hundred Spaniards and one hundred black slaves founded a town near the mouth of the Pedee River in what is now South Carolina. Disease and disputes with nearby Indians caused many deaths. Finally, in November the slaves rebelled, killed some of their masters, and escaped to the Indians. By now only 150 Spaniards survived, and they evacuated back to Haiti. The ex-slaves remained behind. So the first non-Native settlers in "the country we now know as the United States" were Africans. The Spanish continued their settling in 1565, when they massacred a settlement of French Protestants at St. Augustine, Florida, and replaced it with their own fort. Some Spanish were pilgrims, seeking regions new to them to secure religious liberty: these were Spanish Jews

Beginning with 1620 also omits the Dutch, who were living in what is now Albany by 1614. Indeed, 1620 is not even the date of the first permanent British settlement, for in 1607, the London Company sent settlers to Jamestown, Virginia. No matter. The mythic origin of "the country we now know as the United States"

Irate, Tireless Minority - A Time to Give Thanks

    in Politics Conservative

Doing my best to help the Lord set the brushfires of freedom in the hearts of men and to restore America, God willing, to the beacon of freedom she was meant to be.

What would a PC Thanksgiving be without an attempt to demonize the Pilgims?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

More from the religion of pieces

    Doing What's Right:

Doing what's right in an age of PC revisionist history and terrorist attacks means telling the truth. The truth is that islam is a murderous, barbaric, death cult that wages war on every level upon which it is possible to wage war. The truth is that Christian values are the best platform upon which to build a stable society. The truth is that, unless individuals take responsibility for themselves and their own actions, just as in politics, that vacuum will be filled by someone or something else. Big government is not the answer. Self government, when it is directed by an abiding belief in God - by which I mean the Christian God - leads to a successful, secure and stable society, inasmuch as any society made up of human beings may be said to encompass those qualities.

Gospel of Matthew 5: 1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.3  “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
