GIVE THE ENEMY NO SPACE, ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD!

    in Spirituality

1 SAMUEL 30 1-3    By the time David and his menENTERED the village, it had been burned to the ground, and their wives, sons, and daughters all taken prisoner. All of us face difficulties in our lives. But we can have victory over them if we keep our eyes on God. As David sat among the ruins of Ziklag and men spoke of stoning him, he had a choice. David could allow grief and bitterness to conquer him; he could sink into the black hole ofDEPRESSION and give up and quit. Or he could fightBACK.

But before David could fight, he would have to get his strength and courage back.  David  saw nothing but discouraged and downcast men. David had no one to encourage him, so he had only one recourse: He "encouraged himself in the Lord his God”.

    in History

Jennifer Bort Yacovissi joins Big Blend Radio hosts Nancy J. Reid & Lisa D. Smith, to discuss her debut historical novel 'Up The Hill to Home,' that is based on her ancestors. 'Up the Hill to Home' sketches an enduring portrait of four generations of the Miller/Beck/Voith clan against the backdrop of Washington, D.C., as the city itself grows from a dusty pre-Civil War cowtown to a national capital in the throes of the Great Depression.

Jenny Yacovissi grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, just a bit farther up the hill from Washington, D.C. In addition to writing historical and contemporary literary fiction, Jenny is a reviewer for Washington Independent Review of Books and Historical Novel Society.

This interview originally aired on May 3, 2015 on Big Blend Radio's Champagne Sundays variety show, that streamed live online from the historic Coronado Motor Hotel in Yuma, Arizona.

    How to counsel yourself

    in Christianity

John 16:33 I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart. I have overcome the world. While under sickness and hardship , the enemy of your soul wants you to be sad, lament, curse GOD. BUT.....those who bless GOD in their trouble prove their sonship.

Financial Grace: Should I Cut Up My Credit Cards?

    in Women

Answer:  This question requires you to look at the bigger picture and understand some economic logistics.  To start with it’s critical to know the difference between debt and credit.  One enslaves, the other empowers.  One expands, the other decreases.  In this way, both debt and credit are extremely powerful, but at opposite ends of the spectrum.  Access to credit is extremely powerful and has the potential to create exponentially positive results.  Misuse of credit is also extremely powerful and can exponentially create negative results.

Cancelling a credit card and cutting up a card because you believe it’s necessary to get out of debt is ill-informed advice and will sabotage financial blessing.  It reinforces scarcity, fear and doubt which are not from the Lord just as much as the bondage from non-productive, consumable debt is.  Join me on the CWA Radio Network for Financial Grace Radio to unpack this huge, critical subject and learn how to manage and prosper from credit, despite a potentially ‘maxed out’ debt situation.

The Wake Up Mission Radio Show Welcomes Dr.Gaylon McCullough

    in News

The Wake Up Mission Radio Show Hosts Chelene Nightingale and Randy Dees are pleased to welcome Dr.Gaylon McCullough.

Dr. McCollough is world renown as a facial and nasal plastic surgeon. However, his other passion is creative writing

Believing that a doctor’s responsibility to humanity extends beyond prescribing medications and performing surgery, Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough spends much of his nights and weekends with another one of his passions: creative writing.

Over the past thirty (30) years, Dr. McCollough has authored a library of original books ranging from fact to “faction” (fiction based on fact.) Mainstream advice to consumers on appearance, health, and vocational enhancement matters are tastefully blended with motivational, inspirational, theological, scientific, instructional, and political ideas.

Though—from book to book—the genre may differ, all of Dr. McCollough’s writings contain a central theme: how to make life on earth better … today and tomorrow, not only for the individual human being, but for all of humanity.

    Giving Up the Blame Game

    in Women

"When you blame others, you give up your power to change." ~ Robert Anthony

Who do you blame for your failures and disappointments in life? Hopefully, no one. But if you find yourself fuming over past offences, and it's hard for you to forgive, you may be entrenched in The Blame Game. You may not think you're playing it, but if you're not taking responsibiilty for your own choices and actions, you are.

Mother's Day is approaching, and for some people, it's not such a happy occasion. Perhaps you've got beef with your mother for things she did (or did not do) in the past. Maybe it's someone else with whom you're in conflict. But whatever the case, it will definitely benefit you to tune in today.

Join us as we chat with author & speaker, Rita Emmett, about how to give up The Blame Game and start moving forward with your life. Call in with your questions and comments, 646-716-6910, or chat with us in our LIVE chat room during the broadcast!

Christian Adventure with Aaron & Chad Burns on Christian Devotions Speak UP!

    in Christianity

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when Scott brings on two cousins whose backyard adventure hit the big screen, Aaron and Chad Burns.

Aaron Burns graduated with his Masters of Business Administration from Oakland University in May of 2011. He served as the co-producer, production designer, score supervisor, and lead actor on Burns Family Studios' Pendragon: Sword of His Father. Aaron was recently married and lives with his wife Andrea in Lake Orion, MI.

Chad Burns is the award-winning director and co-producer of Burns Family Studios' first feature film, Pendragon: Sword of His Father. Chad completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems and Human Factors at the University of Illinois in the spring of 2011. Chad recently married Angie in August 2011 and lives in Champaign, IL.

These cousins have now created the Christian Hit, Beyond the Mask, an action-packed, Gospel-centered, historic, adventure film. It is set in the turbulent months leading up to the American Declaration for Independence.

The story explores identity and redemption through the lens of one central question: "What does it take for a man to remake his name and redeem his identity?" The assassin-turned-vicar, Will Reynolds, tries two classic approaches to fixing himself. First, he hides behind a mask of assumed identity. Second, he works to do enough good to outweigh his bad past. When both approaches fail, he discovers that only in Christ's finished work can he find his own redemption.
