Beth Fairchild: Tattoo Artist & Cancer Advocate for METAvivor

    in Radio

The Atlantic City Tattoo Expo, celebrating its 12th ink and entertainment-filled year, has come and gone for this year. In case you missed the 3-day event at Bally’s Casino, my guest is the talented tattoo artist Beth Fairchild who happens to be the co-founder of the Expo. I had the good fortune to meet Beth a few years ago while photographing the AC event for Inked Magazine. Beth works out of Lucky Street Tattoo in NC and her specialty is permanent cosmetics, like lips, eyeliner, eyebrows, and nipple and/or areola restoration for post mastectomy breast cancer patients. Beth’s artistry is truly amazing and helps women reclaim their self-esteem after reconstructive surgery. Now for some irony. In May of 2014, Beth was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer for which there is treatment but no cure. After extensive surgery and 18 grueling weeks of chemo, Beth proved to be a survivor. In her words, “I was a 34 year old, post-menopausal, bald-headed, terminal cancer patient, but I was alive, damn it! I was alive and LIVING and I set out to take back control of my life.” And she did. With a vengeance! Beth focused her energy on local events and social media to spread the under-reported message of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) which sadly is not a rare condition. Advocacy provided a reason to move forward and is another way for Beth to show her family that you can push on, even against all odds. Beth works with METAvivor which is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

  • What does natural health mean to women?

    in Nutrition

What does natural health mean to women? We will find out on today's show with Host, Kelli Claypool, as she talks with Dr. Stephen and Janet Lewis of Doctors Nutrition.

Natural health is the natural approach to healing and maintaining good health. It’s the practice that works on the premise of when the body is nourished naturally it can heal itself and possibly even prevent some illnesses. For women this means taking care of your health in natural ways including eating right, exercising, practicing holistic medicine and maintaining a healthy emotional sense. A well-balanced diet is almost impossible to achieve from today’s food sources. And if you have dieted for any number of years, your body has most likely been deprived of a large number of vitamins and minerals it needs. Supplements will speed up the process of increasing your positive health benefits since they help the body detoxify and strengthen the immune system.

Women who suffer from PMS, menopausal symptoms and chronic backaches among other health problems often can’t find the relief from conventional health care. However many find that regular exercise reduces the pain and in some cases stops it completely. Natural Medicine is meant to be a preventative form of health care. There are times when even the body’s natural defenses are not enough and disease such as cancer or chronic pain still occurs. Alternative medicine treatments are natural and non-invasive. The idea is to nurture a well-balanced and well-nourished body that can fight infections, resist disease and heal itself while aging gracefully.

We will be discussing all of this and so much more on the next DivaTalkRadio show.

Success in Love - From Self Love to Deep Lasting Love

    in Lifestyle

I would like to welcome Anat Peri to our show! Anat will be sharing with us about Self Love & Deep Lasting Love. What does it really mean to love yourself? How does one really tend to their garden? Their inner child? Loving all of you, no more shame, and choosing to serve your highest self. Deep Lasting love is identifying what you really want, which is different from what is on your checklist. Coming from what will serve your heart, not what will serve the animal in us that is seeking comfort, and pleasure from a place of lack, fear and lust cause its easy and quick. Making the entrance point to dating and relationships being the heart - clearly knowing what the heart wants - whats the key that will unlock your heart. Knowing how to recognize who holds the key to your heart VS the key to the cage (where your animal resides - the beast in us). Tune into www.blogtalkradio.com/conscioustalkradio to listen and find out about Self Love and Deep Lasting Love or you can call in at (347) 850-8423.

Cutting Edge Research in Geriatrics - UNT Health Science Center

    in Women

In today’s segment, I’ll be joined by Drs. Janice Knebl and Meharvan Singh from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.  We’ll be talking about how research has identified the potential for hormones like estrogen and progesterone as being important in maintaining a healthy brain. However, this topic is not without its controversy, so my guests will also be addressing factors that may predict whether hormones may or may not be good for the brain. In addition, we will also talk about what ongoing research is being done to ensure that doctors provide menopausal and post-menopausal women with as many viable options as possible to help maintain health and wellness as they age.

The Four Fold Goddess: A Critical Look at Modern Woman's Archetypes

    in Spirituality

Do you resonate with the THREE fold Goddess or the Four Fold? I think we can connect to the energies of Maiden, Mother or Crone regardless of age. But, at 42 years old and peri-menopausal, I feel I have more vitality in me and am not aligned to the Crone aspect just yet. This has got me thinking a lot about the oft-unspoken of fourth archetype, the Matriarch archetype. In this episode, I talk about The Three Fold Goddess and The Four Fold Goddess and archetypes for modern women.
