Black or White, Mortdecai, & Our 3rd Annual "Can't Win" Awards

    in Movies

AreYouScreening.com and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review Black or White, Mortdecai, and offer up our 3rd annual Can't Win Awards!

We were forced to miss last week, but we're making it up by showing up on SuperBowl Sunday. We're reviewing Kevin Costner's Black or White, Johnny Depp's Mortdecai, and we're finally getting to our yearly award show.

Our Can't Win Awards, for the uninitiated, are the awards we give out to those who just aren't going to get nominated and/or win any of the "real" awards. The unsung directors, or actors who are in films that aren't going to get noticed.

    Climate Action with Russell Greene

    in Politics Progressive

Climbing PoeTree is the combined force of Alixa Garcia and Naima Penniman. Over the last 11 years, Climbing PoeTree has been at the forefront of social and environmental justice movements by harnessing their art as a tool for popular education, community organizing, and personal transformation. Their award-winning performance is composed of dual-voice spoken word poetry, hip hop, and multimedia theatre that dissolves apathy with hope, exposes injustice, and helps heal our inner trauma so that we may begin to cope with the issues facing our communities.

Climbing PoeTree has independently organized 25 national and international tours bringing their performance to thousands of people across the U.S. and abroad from Mexico to the UK, South Africa to Cuba. Their soul-stirring performances have been featured alongside visionary leaders and artists such as Angela Davis, Cornel West, Alice Walker, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Saul Williams, Sonia Sanchez, Naomi Klein, Danny Glover, and The Last Poets, among others.  In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina Alixa and Naima traveled over 11,000 miles across the U.S. on a bus converted to run on recycled vegetable oil, merging theater and activism by creating a national network that gave voice to local organizations addressing and healing the effects of unnatural disasters in their communities. Climbing PoeTree’s artistic and organizing work can be found on the walls of galleries and museums through projects such as S.T.I.T.C.H.E.D and Shadow Boxing (Created by Garcia), and in the streets of Haiti (Ayiti Resurrect, Co-Founded by Penniman).

    THE SECRET CYCLE OF MASONRY

    in Lifestyle

What we see today makes us unhappy and is the subtext of masonry.  We believe what we want to believe; see what we want to see. The unvarnished truth is assumed to be painfully unnecessary. Generations before us write about hubris, dwindling interest, myopic vision of the future, poor maintenance, glory that has lost; realizing we no longer release our architects, engineers and craftsmen to build us a  Cathedral.   I suggest the Order has been consistent from the beginning. The epoch ever only existed in the mind, a pastiche of aspiration.   In this episode we approach our work with two aspects in mind; Alpha & Omega. Introspective or gregarious influences how we go about engagement and performance. I suggest masonry has dark matter, mass larger than what we perceive. The intellect of Craft Masonry has been preserved passed through streams of ideas and observations that contain the freemasonry. Whether we grasp this process or not rests on differences of ability that naturally exists between men. What we see is insignificant compared to what we represent.  Can we or should we leave a symbol for future generations? Nostalgia drives many of us to preserve lodges that have served there purpose. Periodically unstoppable, corrective adjustments happen. Our largest organizations and networks continually release retrograde pressure.

We cannot change the perfect mathematics of exisitence, but that does not stop us from trying. It is natural that membership rises and falls, interest gains and fades. And the stream of ethics, philosophy and insight keeps flowing through time.  There is a beginning so there must be an end. Strings or loops?

News analysis and a glimpse into Sunday's Illuminati performance

    in News

The path to tyranny continues unabated. Soon, we will see the criminalization of any verbal or written critical discourse against Islam (in particular) and all religions in general. It's all about control. We're also on the verge of a grand transhumanism initiative that will ultimately have the ability to change our DNA.

Also, a look into the planned spell-casting by Illuminati darling Katy Perry during the Super Bowl half-time show.
