The Shemitah and Jubilees: Boom and Bust Economics Explained in Biblical Terms

    in Education

Shemetah (sabbatical year or sheviit literally "seventh) is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah for the Land of Israel and still observed in contemporary Judaism.  During shmita, the land is left to lie fallow and all agricultural activity, including plowing, planting, pruning and harvesting, is forbidden by halakha (Jewish law).

Israel set aside $29M for the farmers who obey the Shemetah Law (the Israel government believes that God will bless the land if they obey the Shemitah).  “While the Shemitah was designed by God to be a blessing to the people, when it was not observed, and when the people walked away from God, it became a curse,”  A Jubilee is a Sabbath of Sabbath years (7x7 years=49 years, so rest on the 50th

Jubilee:   Jubilee is the institution described in the book of Leviticus (25:8-24) where it is stated that a series of forty-nine years [was] to be counted (there is considerable uncertainty as to the date from when the counting is to begin, but traditionally it is from the creation of the world) and every fiftieth year declared a special year during which there was to be no agricultural work; all landed property was to revert to its original owner; and slaves were to be set free. The name Jubilee is from the Hebrew word yovel, “ram’s horn,” the year being so called because a ram’s horn was sounded when it was proclaimed (Leviticus 25:9). Since this verse says: “[Proclaim liberty] throughout the land for all its inhabitants,” the Talmudic view is that the Jubilee was not observed during the Second Temple period because the majority of Jews no longer lived in the land of Israel.

Friday Is The Holy Day For All Moslems All Over The World (Jumu'ah)

    in Islam

Friday is our Holy day of rest because Friday is the day on which man was formed in flesh, and it was on  Friday when he departed out of flesh, and ascened to his Father God Allah for that cause Friday is the Holy Day for all Moslems all over the world.

Man may believe what others say, but thus he never knows If man would know, he must, himself be what he knows.

Come all ye Asiatics of America, and here the truth about your nationality and birthrights. No that you are not negros, colored folks, black people, ethiopians, coon, shines, or jiggaboos, african America, are American, and any other day that is cast upon you. Learn of your forefathers ancient, and divine creed that you will learn to love instead of hate.

Discovery of the Red Heifer and the Rebuilding of the Jerusalem Temple

    in Religion

Recently, it was reported in the news that a red heifer is being bred for the consecration of the priests and cleansing with a view to rebuilding the temple of God in Jerusalem. They claim the ark has already been constructed.

Many unsuspecting Christians, including some ill-informed media and the world will rally around this idea as though it is evidence that the people calling themselves Israel in Palestine are the Isreal of the Bible.

One of the surest signs that these are not the chosen people of God are the ongoing attempts to convince they world they are with the external trappings resembling the types and shadows of the Old Covenant.

For the informed, the Bible is clear in both Old and New Testaments that the Most High does not dwell in temples made with man's hands. This study will be a vigorous investigation of these claims with step by step analyses of the Scriptures.

TUC Radio is produced by Maria Gilardin

Maria Gilardin learned radio in the KPFA news department in 1980 and was one of the founders of the women's department. She co-wrote the GATT Guide for the Earth Summit in Rio, was founding producer of the national weekly public-affairs show Making Contact, and is a member of the International Forum on Globalization. Since 1993, Maria has written and produced radio on global trade and great ideas of local resistance to globalization.

About this series: "An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States"

About the author: Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz grew up in rural Oklahoma, the daughter of a tenant farmer and part-Indian mother. She holds a Ph.D. in history and is an activist in the international Indigenous movement for more than four decades.

This first part of the program brings you Dunbar-Ortiz' description of North America before invasion, the emergence of the US concept of a chosen people, the development of the role of the US military as a force for genocide that seamlessly transitioned into the US foreign wars, the role of militias, a brief history of AIM, the American Indian Movement, and the consequences of the Gold Rush in California.

During Q&A Dunbar-Ortiz was asked about an earlier book by her. The Great Sioux Nation, published in 1977, came out of the 1974 Wounded Knee trials where Dunbar-Ortiz was an expert witness.

Dunbar-Ortiz is the author or editor of seven other books, including Roots of Resistance: A History of Land Tenure in New Mexico; The Great Sioux Nation; Red Dirt: Growing Up Okie, and Blood on the Border: Memoir of the Contra War. She lives in San Francisco.

I recorded Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz on Dec. 4, 2014, at Green Apple, one of the last used bookstores in San Francisco. Her book had been published two months earlier.
