Dream Catchers - Stop the in fighting among people with disabilities - Les Paul

    in Radio

As a Survivor of multiple disabilities and TBI, s I have seen many great survivors fighting the fight to help change the lives of people who want to live a better life and yet at the same time I have seen much anger and infighting amoung people with disabilities which does nothing but leave us all looking bad and foolish on the disability community!!!

We need to work together to find ways to untie people with disabilities instead us tearing each other down so we can be a strong community of thrives helping one another Fight for disability rights and equality but then on the other hand I have witnessed many people who simply given up grown angry and dis associated and left hurting feeling alone by an often broken and seemingly hopeless situations develop in the disability community and yet we have a chance now to COME TO GETHER and change the World if we dare to be different and start helping one another by choosing to team up and change the World one person at a time starting right now in the hot ANGRY Summer heat of 2015.

    Anger

In the heat of the Moment

    Disillusioned

    Broken friendships

    Who am I

    Positive realistic solution’s

    Making a difference

    positive versus negative

    When opposites attract

    Looking deep within

PA Rep. Mark B. Cohen - Office for People with Disabilities Act

    in Culture

Join us for a conversation with Rep. Mark Cohen, of the 202nd Legislative District (Philadelphia). We will discuss the importance of his sponsorship and upcoming reintroduction of HB 1183, known as the Office for People with Disabilities Act. The Act would establish The Office for People with Disabilities within the Office of the Governor, instead of its current location under the Department of Human Services. We will also discuss how to work with legislators to suggest and support the passage of bills to improve the quality of life for residents of Pennsylvania.

Rep. Cohen is the “Dean” of the Pennsylvania General Assembly -- the longest serving member in either the House or the Senate, Democratic Chair of the House State Government Committee, and past Democratic Chair of the House Human Services Committee. Rep. Cohen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Juris Doctorate from the Widener University School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College.

People With Disabilities Are PEOPLE TOO!

    in Motivation

Join Bishop Gerald Scott as he discusses the plights of the physically, developmentally and mentally challenged.
Have you ever noticed that all other groups of people are looked after? Race, Sexual orientation, gender? What about the disabled? Some jobs SAY they don't discriminate based on disability, but, many find a reason NOT to hire someone with a physical challenge.  Ever try catcing public transportation and you're in a wheelchair, only to have the bus driver ride pass you because he/she doesn't want to take the time to DO THEIR JOB and assist you? Let's talk about it.

Ask Dr. Applewhite About Learning Disabilities

    in Education

Most teachers, from elementary to college levels, are able to identify when students have difficulty learning, within the first weeks of a semester. However, employers and co-workers are not able or qualified to identify employees with Learning Disabilities unless the person is willing to ask for an accommodation. Guests will clarify how support, referrals, and accommodations can be provided more effectively. Our Special Guest, Dr. Beverly Poellnitz, Educator, Entrepreneur, along with other guests will enlighten us on how cultural considerations must be given when discussing any issue of learning, mental health, and performance. Host, Dr. Danita Applewhite shares current trends for employers, as well as teachers, that will help with ways to provide accommodations and stay legal with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Hear VET2VET conversations about how Student Veterans address asking for accommodations from Disabled Student Resources and Employee Assistance Programs. . Would you please send your donation of at least $10 or more to continue our radio broadcasts, and help our students and Veterans with disabilities reach their education and workforce goals?
