Join me as we release what no longer serves and embrace the joys that lay in this present moment.

Susan Newman, Ph.D, a New Jersey-based social psychologist and author
“They put everyone else before themselves,” she said. For some, saying “yes” is a habit; for others, “it’s almost an addiction that makes them feel like they need to be needed.” This makes them feel important and like they’re “contributing to someone else’s life.”
People-pleasers yearn for outside validation. Their “personal feeling of security and self-confidence is based on getting the approval of others,” said Linda Tillman, Ph.D, a clinical psychologist in Atlanta, GA and assertiveness expert. Thus, at the core, people-pleasers lack confidence, she said.
They worry how others will view them when they say no. “People don’t want to be seen as lazy, uncaring, selfish or totally egocentric,” Newman said. They fear “they’ll be disliked and cut from the group,” whether it’s friends, family or co-workers.
What many people-pleasers don’t realize is that people-pleasing can have serious risks. Not only does it put a lot of pressure and stress on you, Newman said, but “essentially you can make yourself sick from doing too much.” If you’re overcommitted, you probably get less sleep and get more anxious and upset. You’re also “depleting your energy resources.” “In the worst case scenario, you’ll wake up and find yourself depressed, because you’re on such overload because you possibly can’t do it all,” she said.

Deflate Gate! Can we stop with this already? It's just days away from the next national holiday (unofficially), the Superbowl. The matchup between the Patriots and the Seahawks should be a great game, yet all I hear on local radio and the papers is DEFLATE GATE!!!. Listen I understand that people are fascinated with the Patriots and what they perceive is their thumbing of thier nose at the NFL and it's rules, but I think this has been all talked out and I hope we can spend some time breaking downs the ingame match ups and what I think will be the strategy each team will use to win this game. I hope to get you guys to call in and discuss your thoughts on the big game.
Their is lots to talk about in music news, Michael Sweet and George Lynch just released a cd and I will give my review, Who is playing drums for AC/DC on their um coming tour?, Motley Crue announced where and when their final show will be played and I saw the video from their late night television apperance so we can discuss all of that and much much more.

Already did a show on this a while back that was quite similar but now we are doing yet another one simply because this stuff never ends. I am going to share my stories, my experiences & my own solutions to this as they have been rather effective.
Hopefully there are others out there that can listen to these shows and perhaps be inspired by them if they themselves felt like they thought the same thing out of a lot of it all.
Happy Listening! xoxo
Rev. Glencie Rhedrick is joined by Kristin Cabral on Women: Change Agents.
Kristin Cabral joined the PDA national board in 2013; she is an attorney-activist in Virginia. She has fought for voting rights and fair elections, including seeking to enfranchise people with past felony convictions and helping the Democratic Party with its election protection program in a state of often close elections. She was the Democrat for the U.S. House in 2012 in the swing DC suburbs of Virginia, doing unexpectedly well against an entrenched Republican incumbent on barely any time or money but with an intense field campaign that engaged the grassroots. Kristin, one of the first girls to desegregate Little League in 1974, is a lifetime advocate for women's equality, working with a number of organizations like NOW -VA, and she is from a union family and a supporter of workers. She is one of the first graduates of Head Start and put herself through college (Michigan) and law school (Harvard). Her concerns include the need for a working families agenda which pays heed to childcare issues and student loan debt -- both of which she herself has experienced.
I know I can testify to feeling low sometimes, and not at my full potential. My mom is great for reading me when I'm upset or moody. Recently, I haven't been feeling like myself, and I figured I would do something about it. I love being my happy self, but sometimes things in life happen. Well I'm here to help give you coffee addicts some loving advice and ways that I help myself get out of a funk!
Won't you join me and welcome the weekend on a positive note! Talk soon, I'm gonna finish my yogurt parfait!
