Boston College Athletics: Bowl Coverage Begins...And We'll Talk Some Hoops

    in Sports

We're under two weeks away from Boston College vs. Penn State in the 2014 New Era Pinstripe Bowl. We're also in the middle of a basketball season that's been pleasantly surprising. How could we choose which sport to cover?

Easy. We couldn't. So we're going to do both.

With the shadow and the excitement of the bowl game hanging over BC, we couldn't just turn that away, but at the same time, we can't avoid talking about the encouraging start by the hoopsters. So we're going to talk both on BCI Radio!

Be sure to tune in as we talk attendance, marketing, and excitement surrounding the bowl game. We'll analyze how this bowl game has been different from the rest, how the efforts of the administration are totally different, and what we can expect from both fan bases as we get ready for the bowl game.

We'll then transition to the hardwoods to start gearing up for the BC-USC game on Sunday. Hey, remember the last time these two schools met in any sport? That was exciting.

We'll have our guests on to talk this one through, and be sure to call in and voice your opinion at 646-200-0446!

The BSD Basketbro Show! Episode 1.6: Duquesne And George Washington

    in Sports

Another week, another episode of the BSD Basketbro Show! This week, the guys are confused, because after narrowly beating Duquesne (or, rather, duqane) and beating up George Washington, Penn State hoops may actually be pretty good. Bill DiFilippo, Eric Gibson and Chad Markulics discuss the two games from this past week, preview the upcoming games to finish the non-conference slate against Drexel and Dartmouth, talk about some of the major players from the past few games -- we're looking at you, Geno Thorpe and Jordan Dickerson -- and try to answer a simple question: at 10-1 with votes in both the AP and Coaches polls, is Penn State basketball good? There's also the general silliness that comes from the podcast, but you already knew that. So sit down, turn your headphones up, and get ready for the latest episode of the best damn Penn State hoops podcast on the Internet.

Turning Up The Gospel With Howard Sapp - and The Supreme 7 of Florida

    in Religion

    Howard Sapp

Howard Sapp, an anointed Minister and Psalmist of the Gospel that loves God and God’s people. A native of Florida, Howard now resides in northern Virginia with his lovely wife Faye and their youngest daughter Ashlee. Howard has traveled extensively throughout the US, Canada and Africa preaching and singing and has enjoyed sharing the stage with gospel greats such as Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond, Commissioned, Byron Cage, Vickie Winans and others.

With over 20 years in ministry, Howard believes in working hard to reach your goals. He just completed his first solo gospel cd project entitled “Look at God” and hopes it will inspire and encourage all who listens. As an ordained preacher, his charismatic and fun loving style reaches out to every age group with inspiring words of love, compassion and hope. It is easy to see the anointing of God on him as he shares what God has put in him.

    The Supreme 7

The Supreme 7 was formed in 1995 in Philadelphia, Penn. by Marcus Allen and Antwione Peterson along with other founding members:  Demetrius Starling, Hason Johnson, Willis Harris, Lamonte Murphy, Xavier Brand, and David Moore. The Lord used this crew to pave the roads now traveled by this group.  In 1999, the Lord took Antwione, then playing for the Gospel Keynotes, in another direction with the Supreme 7. He approached Corey Young and Kevin Thompson, who were playing for the Fantastic Violinaires, to join the Supreme 7. By this time, the Supreme 7 had set up base in Florida.

"God is always with us; He has saved us and united us together and will always be the Head of our ministry.”  With the number seven representing completion, the Supreme 7 believe that with God, we are complete…not just as a group but as a brotherhood.

John Carver Show - It Makes NO SENSE (Dec 2014)

    in Self Help

"To eat an egg, you must break the shell." Proverb

"This is the time when you need to build your beliefs in the face of contradicting evidence." Lisa Jimenez'

Sometimes the risks you and I take lead to extraordinary experiences.

“When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.” Edward Teller

Your physical eyes simply weren’t created to work in the spiritual world.

Walking by faith is living by what you KNOW versus what you see, feel, hear, smell and can touch.

Recently, we received about an inch of snow.  When I was clearing the driveway I noticed some deer tracks.  I didn’t see the deer but I KNEW the deer had been on the driveway.

God knows how thick the “ice” is in our lives.

Faith is a voluntary anticipation.  Clement of Alexandria.

“What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are.” ? C.S. Lewis, The Magician's Nephew

“God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas but for scars.” ? Elbert Hubbard

“Faith is walking face-first and full-speed into the dark. If we truly knew all the answers in advance as to the meaning of life and the nature of God and the destiny of our souls, our belief would not be a leap of faith and it would not be a courageous act of humanity; it would just be... a prudent insurance policy.” ? Elizabeth Gilbert

Rockin out in the BIG HOUSE with Danny Brooks n Lil Debi

    in Lifestyle

Please join host Frankie Picasso on Thursday, December 4th at 1:00 pm EST, when she greets  guests Danny Brooks and his wife Lil Debi, who for past 24 years have been active in prison ministry.
Danny has been in the music business since 1971 having played in blues, country, hard rock and rhythm and blues bands but his first introduction to ministry was with his father, who took Danny and his siblings, a sister and brother to the street corners of Toronto and had them recite scripture verses.
A"rough life and a 'season of rebellion' found Danny on the downslide. As it was with so many young musicians during the 70's and 80's, the drug culture captured  Danny's attention and he found himself doing time in prison for the crimes committed to pay for his  addictions to drugs and alcohol. It was during this time spent in prison that Danny attributes to his skill in writing music.
In 1987, just 3 months from being released from the Donwood Institute in Toronto where he was treated for alcohol and drug addiction, Danny came to his faith.
1991,was a good year for Danny. Not only did he become involved in Prison Ministry but he was also nominated for the Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist.
Danny has been blessed with a big talent and a distinctive voice, and one thing is for sure, he is  a BORN STORY TELLER.
Performing and speaking in Prisons, Rehabs and Halfway Houses has become an important part of who Danny Brooks has become. Whenever, and where ever Danny tours, it is imperative that at least one of the above facilities is on the tour. Giving back to communities in this way allows him  to share his story, and impart hope for eternity in Christ.
