Relay For Life of Beach Cities 2015

    in Current Events

Our guests this morning are Maria Stieritz and Maggie Walsh.

Born and raised in NYC, Maria Stieritz relocated to California in 1979 after starting her nursing career in the Bronx in 1976. She’s been a Redondo Beach resident for the past 30 years and has committed her time to the South Bay community as a volunteer. She’s worked with the Redondo Beach Unified School District PTA and was a Hands on Art Docent, Heath Aide and Religious education Instructor. Cancer has surrounded Maria's life professionally and personally. She had her own personal battle with Cancer in 2010 and began volunteering with the American Cancer Society in 2012. She organized and facilitated the local CPS-3 study, joined the Coastal Cities Leadership Council and began working with Relay for Life of the Beach Cities. Maria has been the Event Lead for Relay for Life of the Beach Cities since 2014.

Maggie Walsh was born and raised in San Diego. When she was just 14 years old, her father was diagnosed with brain cancer. After battling courageously with a smile on his face for nearly one year, Maggie’s dad lost his life to cancer. From the time he was diagnosed, Maggie began fighting in honor of his life by raising funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. After raising over $12,000 as a young teen, she created her own student organization at La Jolla High School called Teens for a Cure Club. Through her work in student government and with the support of her club mates, she was able to plan the first-ever Teens For a Cure Walk-a-Thon – a mini-Relay For Life that served as a feeder event for Relay For Life of La Jolla, CA.

This morning our guests are going to tell us about the Relay for Life taking place Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 at Lincoln Elementary School.

    in Christianity

Early in his cardiology career, Dr. Arthur E. Constantine received an insight from God that had not been revealed in any medical school or cardiology textbook: There is an inseparable intertwining of the physical and spiritual bindings of our hearts.

With equal measures of diet and exercise information and Bible-based inspiration, Constantine’s new guide “It’s Always the Heart” provides meaningful ideas on how we can change our hearts to receive the physical and spiritual hearts God wants us to have.
