The Yehudah Project: United Nations says " African Americans need reparations"!

    in Culture

“The colonial history, the legacy of enslavement, racial subordination and segregation, racial terrorism, and racial inequality in the US remains a serious challenge as there has been no real commitment to reparations and to truth and reconciliation for people of African descent. Contemporary police killings and the trauma it creates are reminiscent of the racial terror lynchings in the past. Impunity for state violence has resulted in the current human rights crisis and must be addressed as a matter of urgency.” The United Nations

Episode 3: Going Viral with Danny A. Abeckaser "A Stand Up Guy"

    in Pop Culture

Alycia Kaback and Finding Fame Radio talk to Danny A. Abeckaser, ("Danny A") is an Israeli born and Brooklyn raised actor, writer and producer, who made a successful transition from a thriving career to follow his dreams. Selective when it comes to the projects he works on, Abeckaser's first foray into cinema was 2010's Holy Rollers. Directed by Kevin Achs, Danny stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Bartha in a story about a young man from an Orthodox Jewish community who is lured into becoming an Ecstasy dealer by a friend linked to an Israeli drug cartel. Following the film's success, Danny went on to land one of his better known roles as Dino Lapron in The Iceman, appearing alongside Ray Liotta, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, and James Franco as "The Iceman's" best friend. To date, he regards the part as one of his favorite and most challenging roles. With two successful films under his belt, Danny was able to fulfill a life-long dream when he was given the opportunity to work with the legendary Martin Scorsese on The Wolf of Wall Street.Abeckaser continued the momentum and soon after finished a longtime project writing and co-producing the film Club Life, which was loosely based on his life as a New York nightclub power player. In Club Life, Danny plays Mark, a nightlife promoter who offers Johnny (Jerry Ferrara) a chance at success. On February 9th, 2016, Abeckaser will step into the spotlight for his first leading role as the star in the upcoming release of "A Stand Up Guy", a meta-comedy about comedy that tells the story of a low-level mobster who disappears into the Witness Protection Program, only to become an Internet celebrity when his open-mic set goes viral. Apart from acting, Abeckaser runs 2B Productions, which has produced six films. Abeckaser is also slated to appear in Bruce Willis' dark bank heist film "Marauders," where he has a supporting role.

PLUM CREEK: THE REST OF THE STORY (PART 3)

    in Lifestyle

TONIGHT AT 7 ON NORTH FLORIDA WRITER LIVE WE'LL CONTINUE WITH THE PLUM CREEK DEVELOPMENT STORY IN THE THIRD INSTALLMENT.  WE'LL MOVE TO A DISCUSSION OF THE UNINTENDED AND NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES THAT NEIGHBORS TO THE AMBITIOUS PROJECT WILL FACE AND HOW THEIR LIVES CAN LITERALLY BE TORN ABOUT.  THE DISCUSSION YOU WILL HEAR IS A PART OF GEORGE SIBLEY'S EXCELLENT AUDIO PODCAST CREATED IN PART BY SUPPORT FROM THE SIERRA CLUB.  AND I MUST ADMIT THAT THIS HUMBLE HOST IS INCLUDED AS ONE OF THE PARTICIPANTS SINCE i ALSO LIVE CLOSE BY THE WHERE THE ACTION WILL BE.

THE MAIN POINT BEING MADE IS THAT THE ENTIRE PROJECT IS OVERKILL, TRYING TO FORCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CITY IN LOW, OFTEN FLOODED LAND WITH NO INFRASTRUCTURE.  AND SINCE PLUM CREEK HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO ACTUALLY DEVELOP IT THEMSELVES, THE LOCAL TAXPAYERS, INCLUDING THOSE OF US DIRECTLY IMPACTED, WILL PAY THE PRICE BOTH IN TAXES AND LOSS OF QUALITY OF LIFE. DOES THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT CARE?  ONLY TIME WILL TELL AND THAT WILL COME IN NEXT WEEK'S MASSIVE PUBLIC HEARINGS.

WE HOPE YOU'LL TUNE IN FOR WHEREVER YOU LIVE, DEVELOPMENTS OF THIS TYPE ARE BEING PLANNED THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.  I GUESS PEOPLE WILL FINALLY WAKE UP WHEN THE TREES ARE GONE, THE SPRAWL HAS LEFT BEHIND BOARDED UP COMMUNITIES AND WE'LL WONDER WHAT HAPPENED.  SO PAY ATTENTION, YOU MIGHT LEARN A THING OR TWO THAT YOU CAN DO AS WELL.

Our guest for today is Rev. Albert D. Tyson III, the Presiding Elder of the North District, Chicago Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. The AME Church was founded in 1787, and has a mission to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people.

Some Thoughts on Anger and How To Deal With It

    in Parents

We all get angry; it's a natural human reaction to a loss of expectations and witnessing the downward spiral of someone we love. Anger can disrupt the process of getting help for a young person if it's not acknowledged and properly directed. The ranges of anger associated with having to deal with addiction are complex. It is difficult to process acceptance of our addict’s choices without some level of resentment and antagonism. Whether we justify our irritation and reactions because of lies and manipulation, it is important to work our way through it and not around it.
