When you see Joanna Pascale's website, you'll see the quote from her regarding her new project. She says, "Wildflowers grow unter the most unlikely circumstances. You'll find them in the most unlikely places. From the beginning, that's how my journey has been."
Joanna Pascale IS a "Wildflower." Strong and resilient, unexpectedly beautiful and unique. Her presence in the world of Jazz is appreciated - this writer speaks for many. She LOVES the music, is grateful for the Masters and Mistresses that came before her, and dearly craves to bring those voices from the past to YOU - in her OWN voice :) And what a gift that is!
When Joanna was attending Philadelphia's High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, a fellow student and friend was Bilal. He joins her on "Wildflower", as does someone who has known her for equally as long. That's the well-respected pianist - and producer for this album - Orrin Evans. Who else is on this spectacular effort is enough to make your ears burn until the end of 2015! Let's just say The BEST of the Best.
The new work from Joanna comes at a time when a successful ten-year run at Philly's Loew's Hotel was coming to an end. Sad as it was for all concerned, it gave our guest wings. She was ready to get involved in HER music, having blessed other artists with her vocals on THEIRS. She still has her day job at her alma mater, Temple University, and she reaches hundreds of students each year with her teaching abilities. But this is where Joanna shines in a particular way. She won't touch a song unless she feels it. When she soaks her soul into the meaning of a classic, it's like you never heard the song before NOW. This Lady Was Born To Sing.
Join Joanna and me on 5/5 - your ears will thank you!

Its just about that time! Soon we will know if the Supreme Court will dare to challenge the order of God for humanity and thus impact the nation totally. I would say still the church has no idea what threshold we are standing at. Will schools and bible believing churches be forced to change their positions on such fundamental principles of scripture in order to comply with government? " Big Brother also is insisting that you be held totally responsible for your child's absences in school to the point of arrest for too many unexcused absences?

THREE p.m. showtime on 10/10/13! And even cooler than looking at the date is the actual SHOW :) Out of the chute, here comes California based vocalist, Mark Arthur Miller. One of the more fascinating stories you'll ever hear is from Mark. Raised by his Mom and Grandmother in Chicago, his comfort was in the music of Motown - he didn't realize that the Dad he missed so much was writing the songs that stirred his soul. Years later, Ron Miller, staff writer in those golden days of Berry Gordy's organization, would reunite with his son. Long enough to hear Mark sing those million dollar songs that were crafted in the 60's. Amazing. As is the dual life of our guest - not only is he the consummate interpreter of songs (wait until you hear these arrangements!) - but he is also an actor and tennis pro. Get set for a charming crooner to beguile and make you a believer :)
Joanna Pascale is the reason why the show starts at three! This beautiful singer/instructor is finishing up classes at Temple University - she's doing the interview - then she's leaving for her regular gig at Loew's in Philadelphia! She took the time out of her schedule to make sure that we know about the St. Michael's Jazz Festival that's happening this weekend! Joanna's in stellar company in beautiful St. Michael's - that's her trademark: stellar company. Tim Warfield, Terell Stafford, Cyrus Chestnut - a few of the amazing musicians that love to work with this gifted and loving representative of the Great American Songbook. Three musical projects and over 400 songs in her repertoire...my Philly friend WILL wow you!
Mark at three - Joanna at 4:30 - and songs to heal and delight you in between. October is simmering with a harvest of goodness...have a warm seat by The Chat Room fire...the only time you'll "CHILL" is to the music ;)
NWP welcomes Lorraine Pascale. Lorraine grew up in Oxfordshire with her adoptive mother and aged 11 she achieved a 100 per cent scholarship to go to a boarding school in Devon. Aged 16, she was spotted by a model scout while shopping in Covent Garden. She was whisked off to New York and held her own amongst the biggest names of the day for some of the world’s most successful designers including Chanel, Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Versace, Benetton and Donna Karan. She was also the first British black model on the cover of American Elle.
Although Lorraine had a fabulous time modelling, she gave it up as she wanted to find something she was really passionate about and something that would take her through her 30s and beyond. So in between modelling jobs, she enrolled on loads of courses to find out what would really make her tick including hypnotherapy and interior design. It was not until she enrolled on a year-long cookery course at Leith’s that Lorraine finally knew what she wanted to do.
On completing the Leith’s Diploma of Food and Wine, Lorraine did a two year foundation degree in International Culinary Arts in Pastry and then worked in some of the most renowned kitchens of the world, including Petrus, The Mandarin Oriental, Gilgamesh and The Wolseley.
Lorraine’s cookery career is going strong. A long held dream was realised with her first television cookery series ‘Baking Made Easy’ a prime time TV show on BBC Two. http://www.lorrainepascale.com
