Celebrities like Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, George Michael, Michael Douglas, Eric Benet, Charlie Sheen, Ted Haggard, David Duchovny, and Jesse James. What do they all allegedly have in common? They each had an addiction that almost ruined their lives and the lives of the people around them. While the media revealed these sexual indiscretions for the whole world to see, they stopped short of analyzing the root of this addiction. Too often we don't hear the documented progress these men have made in picking up the pieces of their broken lives. Although it might be beneficial to see the progress, recovery doesn't make great headlines. So observers are left to make assumptions without all the relevant pieces to this most complex sex addiction puzzle. For National Recovery Month, we will go deeper to reveal the naked truth.
In Sex and Surrender: An Addict's Journey, author A.D. Burks graphically recounts his addictive cycle, which lasted roughly twelve years, and almost ended his life. Through a dream Burks realized he had to find a way out. Therapy and spiritual counseling gave him temporary respite and inspired him to devise a four-step process to manage his addiction. Yet Burks' true breakthrough came when the root of his pain was uncovered and he realized that sex does not equal love. During this show highlighting recovery, Burks will provide us with tidbits from his book to give us a taste of his addiction and recovery process.
A.D. Burks is a native Texan and renaissance man. He sang with the Grinnell Singers at Carnegie Hall, earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and an MBA from Rice University. Through Sex & Surrender, Burks returns to what he considers his calling -- to use his life lessons to inspire creativity and spiritual growth. To learn more, go to www.sexsurrender.com.

Today’s Topic: Words spoken in Power and Authority gets Results!
Sub Topic: Ask believing, anticipate receiving!
Discussion: Jesus had confidence that whatsoever words He spoke, that there would be results. How often do we say things, only to retract contradict our very own statements later? When we speak, we must firmly believe that we shall have what we say! This is faith in action.
(Matthew 21:22) And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

It appears that the entire world has been talking about the "Iyanla: Fix My Life!" television program segment in which she tackles the the problems in the personal life of successful Video Producer Jay Williams who has father 34 children with 17 different women.
The public reaction in cyberspace was immense and I believe that this transpired because the story really struck a nerve not only with everyone, but in Black America especially.
Why? Well the fact of the matter is that while men of many different races have multiple children with several different women, the stigma is that Black men lead the pack in this sorry practice.
Whether the numbers back this claim up or not, the general perception is that Black men will easily make babies because of the joy of the process but will never stick around to actually raise them and must be forced by the courts to do so.
So with all of the frustration that is so commonplace due to those who have left many of these women down and out feeling all alone to raise their child/children, Jay Williams has become the perfect poster boy from which everyone can aim their emotions because of the extreme nature of his actions.
So on this night we want to hear from everyone who has something to say on the man who has 34 children with 17 women but the catch is that we also will be speaking on the women who laid down with this man and question how smart they might have been in doing so.
Why? Because in order to make a child it takes two!
I can't come down too hard on "Baby Mama" number one or two, but after (And I'm being nice about this) you meet a man that has 10 kids, wouldn't you be a little leery of laying down with him to have unprotected sex?
I feel that there are a lot of embarrassed people who see a little bit of themselves in this story and I want you all to express yourselves with ALL PISTONS FIRING!

The world was shocked when we found out the famous actor and comedian Robin Williams took his life. Some of us were stunned and just couldn't understand how this wonderful man contributed to our lives in entertainment media. When we learned he suffered from depression, we thought, 'Wow.'
There are many people who are God-fearing, God-loving believers who suffer from mental illness every day. Throughout their lives, they walk a tight rope between faith in God and the illness of their mind.
In recent years, mental illness is being seen in more favorable light, as in, people are starting to talk about it more, which is a very good thing. However, it is still enough of a taboo subject that some Christians tend to view mental illness in such as a lack of faith or some kind of demonic influence.
However, I personally believe that mental illness does not make a person less of a Christian but it does affect their faith and belief in God at times. Some people suffer from debilitating disorders like bi-polar, manic depression, or others. Some suffer as a result from some kind of trauma.
So with Christians, what role does faith play in mental illness? What roles does medicine and therapy play? Should we solely depend on God for healing or should we seek help? How should Christian deal with this issue?
