    Warfare: Supernatural versus Spiritual

    in Christianity

    3 Realms Chart

    Supernatural Environment

The supernatural or soulical environment consists of those areas between the natural and the spiritual. Though this is one realm, it contains many regions. In order to understand our beliefs we can say that the supernatural realm is where the angels and demons dwell, also described as heaven and hell. We can also say that the realm to which our soul relates is the soulical environment. Our soulical senses work just as well (or as poorly) in heaven as in hell. God reigns supreme, and nothing happens here without His express permission, just as in the natural realm.

We often mistake what happens there, and what we see, as being 100% true and infallible. Thus, we can experience visions, manifestations of God, angels and demons, etc., and falsely conclude that there is absolute authority and clarity in them.

    Supernatural Warfare

Supernatural warfare, often erroneously called spiritual warfare, is waged between the inhabitants of the supernatural realm. This would be angels, demons and humans. As in all areas, warfare here is strictly under the control and direct supervision of God.

    Soulical Warfare

Soulical warfare refers specifically to us humans, and must be fought with weapons more powerful than the field of battle. The soulical battles involve overcoming the world, the flesh and the devil in our individual lives.

    What is “Supernatural”?

A temporary plane of existence that God created for the expression of His love, perceived with our supernatural (or soulical) senses.

    Supernatural vs. Spiritual

By elevating aspects of the supernatural realm, like angels and demons, we give them much too much influence and authority in and over our lives.

    The Supreme: God The Mother

    in Spirituality

This week we continue our discussion on the parental nature of God, more especially the concept of God the Mother based on The Urantia Book's teaching of the Supreme.

We've invited to consummate teachers and Urantian scholars to share their thoughts with us on this topic of the Mother Supreme. Dr. Chris Halvorson, who will be with us for the entire show and Mr. David Kulieke, who can spend part of the show with us.

Dr. Halovorson says this about the Supreme, "Finally, it has been revealed that the Supreme is the evolving womb of finite creation: The Finite Upholder (evolutionary-experiential deity) and the Universal Mother of all evolutionary creatures." Even a casual acquaintance with Chris' writings reveals that he has keen tremendous insights on God the Mother.

Chris Halvorson has a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder and worked as a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder for 24 years. He discovered The Urantia Book in 1990 and started leading a weekly study group in 1995. He founded Perfecting Horizons Institute (PHI) in 2013. PHI is the educational outreach of Perfecting Horizons, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that serves inquisitive-minded people from around the world, challenging them to discover fresh big-picture insights and new ways of thinking about the revelation.

David Kulieke is a third generation reader. His family members were students of the Urantia teachings, long before there was a Urantia Book. David has contemplated these concepts and studied them with other sincere seekers for most of his life. David is currently the Chair of the Fellowship's Education Committee and at the Summer Study Session last year he lead a packed workshop entitled, "Our Relationship with God the Father: Knowing Him as Our Universe Father and the Supreme as Our Universe Mother."

This should be a lively episode!

Typical Actions in Probate of a Slaveholding Estate with David E. Paterson

    in History

Public historian David E. Paterson studies people who lived in nineteenth-century Upson County, Georgia, especially those who experienced slavery and Reconstruction. A civilian employee of the US Navy by day, he spends his leisure hours researching and writing local history.  David has helped manage the Slave Research Forum at AfriGeneas.com since about 2001.  David emigrated to the U.S. in 1958 from Scotland and was granted U.S. citizenship in 1975.  He lives in Norfolk, Virginia.

We will discuss the most fruitful probate records for slavery research in most states, for the period about 1800 to 1865.   The discussion may be less useful for the colonial period, or for the records of Louisiana or Spanish colonial Florida whose laws and processes derived from different legal traditions.  In addition, David will describe the process flow from one record to the next – the purpoe of each record – and what kinds of slavery-related information maybe found in the record. Particular attention will focus on records that are sometimes overlooked in guides or how-to books; especially annual returns and vouchers.  Researchers may find records of a deceased slaveholder separated by many years – in cases when a “life estate” came back under supervision of the court as a “residual estate.”  Finally we will show the connections and similarities between probate records and guardians’ records.

Get Pied For The Child And Support The It's About The Child Conference

    in News

Hear Joan Landes, Karen Bracken and others talk about the need for a National Conversation on Parental Authoriy to Reclaim the Culture for America's children.  There has been a movement to transform America by taking away parental voices in rearing the future voters, leaders of our great nation.  The price of freedom is vigilance and for too long parents have trusted or been too busy and now the effects are coming to haunt the family and nation.  But it is not too late because as we know TRUTH is powerful and can set a nation free.  But just as in the beginning of this nation, it is important to remember to ask for help from the ONE from whom 'all" blessings flow and may He deliver US.

Why Parental Representations To Designate Creator & Trinity Personalities?

    in Spirituality

    The Parental Nature of God:

This week, in the vein of the shows we did on Divine Fatherhood and Motherhood, we will explore why the Urantia Book uses such parental or gender specific designations in its descriptions of Deity when we are told that there is no sex/gender (as we understand it) involved with the First Source and Center or the Trinity personalities. Why is it important to think of God and God's deity associates in terms like these? Is it really necessary to relate to to deity in this way in order to understand these personalities better or more personally?

The first Paper of the book is called The Universal Father and the last sentence of the book states, "When all is said and done, the Father idea is still the highest human concept of God."

    Urantia quotes to consider:

(6:8.1) Concerning identity, nature, and other attributes of personality, the Eternal Son is the full equal, the perfect complement, and the eternal counterpart of the Universal Father. In the same sense that God is the Universal Father, the Son is the Universal Mother. And all of us, high and low, constitute their universal family.

(174:1.3) The parent is able to view the immaturity of the child in the light of the more advanced parental maturity, the riper experience of the older partner. With the earthly child and the heavenly Father, the divine parent possesses infinity and divinity of sympathy and capacity for loving understanding. Divine forgiveness is inevitable; it is inherent and inalienable in God's infinite understanding, in his perfect knowledge of all that concerns the mistaken judgment and erroneous choosing of the child. Divine justice is so eternally fair that it unfailingly embodies understanding mercy.

Please join us as we continue to discuss the parental nature of God and gender specific language about God. If you have thoughts, ideas or quotes to share please call.
