A lot is written about seeing our parents through dementia, but not much is available to discuss what it takes to deal with parents who might need our assistance, but who still have all their faculties. How do we finesse a parent who wants to maintain their independence into moving nearer to us; into giving us a power of attorney to take care of their healthcare and financial needs; to accept daily help? How do we do this while allowing them to maintain their dignity.
With honesty and insight borne of having been there and done that, in Elderly Parents With All Their Marbles (2014) author Pam Carey shares her personal journey as well as the rules of the road she developed during her journey with her parents.

Hear interview with Linda Murphy as we try to figure out the out of control Education System being led with the one-size fits all mentality of Common Core. Unfortunately, Common Sense is being left behind and so are the children. The Common Core Standards Initiative is setting up children to be harmed when Parental Authority is replaced by "nationalization" by people who thinks the Government Collaborative Efforts are better. Facts such as more parental input makes dramatic difference (as in the undeniable success of homeschooling are ignored.)

SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--The Menendez Brothers, Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead, Daniel Bartlam, and most recently, Steven Pratt, are just a few names on the rapidly growing list of child killers who slaughtered their parents. Just as unthinkable a crime it is for a parent to kill their child, the thought of a child killing their parent is wice as unthinkable, considering the innocence perceived in a youth. Yet, the cases of murdered parents at the hands of their children are becoming as normal an occurrence as the rise and set of the sun. What lies beneath the critical severing in the sacred bond of parent and child? Is it parental enabling? Is it new age media programs? Is it the product of governmental interference in the family household? Join in tonight at 10:30 pm EST at 347-327-9967.

Who is the ultimate authority in your child's life? You may think it's you, the parent. But for women like Dorothy Austin, the discovery that the State has more power than the parent was a horrifying discovery. When her son Shamir was hit on the head by a public school teacher, he suffered seizures as a result of his injuries. Naturally, Mrs. Austin filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education for allowing such an assault upon her son. She was told that the teacher involved had been fired, but in a sudden twist, she found herself being accused of having a delusional disorder and her son was removed from her home by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and put in foster care. As she and her husband fought to get their son back, she found herself entangled in a bizarre struggle to prove her mental stability. Is this a cover up by the State to avoid paying damages for the injury to her son? How can parents lose custody of a child when they are fit parents? Ms. Austin's husband has passed away during the course of this struggle and she continues to live in a nightmare as she tries to get her son back from State custody. What kind of parental rights do we really have under the law
