Terranea Resort is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Pennisula just south of Los Angeles. It’s known as LA’s premier oceanfront resort and the second you enter the property, you see exactly why it got this designation.
This week Peter Greenberg will broadcast from Terranea, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary. Located on the exact site that used to be home to Marineland, a theme park Peter himself remembers visiting fondly as a young boy, Terranea not only offers new and exciting things to do, but has an amazing history.
Peter is joined by Allan Franz, an anthropologist and professor working with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy who tells Peter all about the local history, including what famous show was shot right off the Peninsula in front of the hotel. Hint: One of the restaurants at Terranea is named after it.
He also gets a chance to meet some of the wild falcons that live at the center. Peter talks to Joe Roy who tells him all about the history of falcons in the area and why they stay.
You can listen to all of this and more on this week's epsiode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from Terranea Resort in Ranchos Palos Verdes.
No, I'm not a church goer, but I love the Lord and I love Gospel music and God loves me just as I am. I have proof of that every day! I also love gospel music and inspirational uplifting songs. This week, we are going to be blessed by the presence of a special guest, Bishop Zachary Jones. When I first found a church that I was comfortable in, it was in large part because of this man and his ministry. It was his church in NYC that welcomed me and helped me to understand and believe that God loves me.
Bishop Jones is currently serving as a member of the Pastor's board of Unity Fellowship of Christ, NYC. Bishop Jones is the Jurisdiction Bishop for Jurisdiction 2 of the Unity Fellowship Church Movement. He is the founder of the Unity Fellowship of Christ, NYC. Bishop Jones is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Gay Men of African Decent, New York City.
Bishop Jones is a graduate of Palos Verdes Bible Training Center, Los Angeles Cal. and holds a Master Degree in Systematic Theology. Bishop Jones has been in the ministry since 1978, where he was licensed in pulpit ministry by the Mount Moriah Baptist church. Bishop Jones served under the founder of the Unity Fellowship Church Movement, Archbishop Carl Bean, as the first Assistant of the denomination and later appointed as the Dean of Theological Studies.
Robert Landau, author of Rock and Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip, shows Peter a special photo he took of the old Marineland billboard advertising the former theme park that used to live on the land taken over by Terranea Resort. Unfortunately the area stood vacant and overgrown until the Terranea Resort project came to fruition.

Many diseases adversely affect our brain health later in life such as Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinsons. Perhaps we can help by maintaining good oxygen levels and doing activites which activate our brain daily, like computer games, sports, meditation, conversations, team board games, reading, writing, exercises. Dr. David Barczyk, D.C. addresses 5 activities which may help save you and loved ones from future brain diseases which are aggravated by inactivity.
1. Meditate: Meditation has been shown to increase IQ and decrease stress. Meditate 10 minutes a day. No excuses. (If you’ve never meditated before and are too afraid at this point to ask how to do it, the answer is simple to give, but difficult to do. To meditate means to clear your brain. Basically, think about nothing. If you’ve never tried it, you may be surprised at what a challenge such a simple seeming task can be. Stay in the struggle and do it. One tip is to little envision chasing your thoughts away to leave your brain clear.)
2. Listen to music or better yet learn to play music.
3. Exercise: Walk. Bike. Swim. Exercise increases oxygen. Your brain loves oxygen.
4. Change your environment: Look for ways to struggle. Take a different route to work. If you usually go left, go right. Do something different. Change your routine.
5. Think positive
