PMP: Shanda Hahn Kinkade - Organizing Pagan Pride Day in a Conservative State

    in Spirituality

Join RevKess & KaliSara to talk with Shanda Hahn Kinkade about her experience organizing Pagan Pride Days in a conservative area. Shanda has organized PPD in mid-Nebraska for three years and helped organize the PPD in Omaha this year.

Shanda began her journey on the Pagan Path in 1989, exploring a variety of traditions. She is an eclectic Pagan who waivers between Pantheism & Nontheism. Her practice is Grey Witchcraft with focus on balance, the 4 elements, animism, humanism, and the moon with a pinch of Hedge Witch tossed in for good measure.

She created the online group Wiccans in Nebraska (WINEB) in 2002. She joined the Rural Nebraska Witches’ Group (RNWG) via meetup.com in Mar 2007, and became co-organizer in Sept of that year. Apr 2013, she became a ritualist with Prairie Star Circle and later became lead ritualist (Jun 2013) before taking over all leading aspects Dec 2013.

Shanda has conducted workshops and classes, led group rituals, organized adult night-out events, ran a divination study group, presided over weddings, and taught a multiple-day seminar on Ritualist & Leadership training.

After a move in 2014, Shanda is still co-organizer of RNWG with most work being behind the scenes and she has remained the Local Coordinator for Kearney Area Pagan Pride. PMP: Janet Callahan - Parenting Pagan Tots

    in Spirituality

Join RevKess & KaliSara to talk with Janet Callahan about her newest book, Parenting Pagan Tots, as well as her website Our Little Acorn, which discusses special needs parenting in Pagan families.

From her website: "Author and priestess Janet Callahan has had articles published in several anthologies and on various websites, as well as on her own blogs. She has had poetry published on the now defunct paganliving.com. She’s also published an eBook on being a Pagan Parent in the NICU, and has written a mini-course on planning for Pagan holidays.

Ms. Callahan has been Pagan for more than 15 years. She trained under a Dianic coven in the Detroit area and was initiated as a Mother priestess at Imbolc 2007. She is also currently a 2nd degree student with a more traditional Wiccan coven that focuses on family-based practice. She considers herself to be a Modern American Polytheist – a mixture of syncretistic polytheism, techno-Paganism, pop-culture magick, Wicca, and Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG).

Additionally, Ms. Callahan is the former Program Director of SpiralScouts International, an alternative Pagan-based scouting organization for children ages 3-18, and a former board member of several other Detroit area Pagan organizations."

PMP: Little Pagan Acorns and the Pagan homeschooling lifestyle

    in Spirituality

With the many things going on in parts of the country that make certain school districts less friendly to Pagan children, children with learning disabilities and/or giftedness, and more, it is becoming much more common and accepted for parents to take on the task of schooling their children at home. In addition, homeschooling in the age of the internet and social media has become much more feasible and complex. Also, Pagan homeschooling is a viable alternative to the religious private schools available to Christians.

Join RevKess and Kalisara in talking about Pagan homeschooling. We will be addressing some of the rules and regulations, providing some links to resources. We will talk about homeschooling vs. unschooling and other parent-directed learning techniques. Joining us is the group moderator for Little Pagan Acorns.

Little Pagan Acorns is a webpage (http://www.littlepaganacorns.com/) and a group on facebook that describes itself as: "a community for Pagan homeschoolers, as well as anyone raising Pagan children. Focusing in printables, puzzles, worksheets and other resources." "Even if you’re not a Pagan homeschooling parent, you can use lots of these pages to keep your kids amused and to teach them a little bit about various Pagan paths and pantheons."

PMP: Samuel Wager - Formalizing Wiccan Worship

    in Spirituality

Join RevKess and Kalisara as we bring back Samuel Wagar, the HP of Ravenwood Temple, to talk about the joys and conflicts around creating a formal community church for Wiccans.

From an article on VuWeekly: "Edmonton’s local community, in particular, is at a major transitive point  in its growth, taking steps towards a more formal organizational structure than is commonly found or historically precedented in Wicca."

Samuel Wagar is a Third Degree Wiccan HP (1985), founder of the Congregationalist Witchcraft Association of Canada (1991) and its British Columbia provincial daughter (2004). He's currently HP of Ravenwood Temple of the Alberta branch of his church (2007 - there is also as Saskatchewan branch, founded in 2014) and the Wiccan Chaplain at the University of Alberta. He is enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at St. Stephen's College in Edmonton, studying the evolution of a fraction of the Wiccan community toward more formal 'church-like' service to the larger community, a process he's been involved with now for more than a quarter century. Author of four books on theology, ritual, church organization, and a memoir.
