Synergy is when the confluence of people, events, and places combine to create extraordinary things and results. And in the history of the U.S. Army, there is no greater example of synergy than the West Point Class of 1915. Known as, "The Class the Stars Fell On," the class of 1915 produced 59 general officers and a President of the United States out of just 164 graduates. Graduating just as America was becoming involved in World War I, the class of 1915 showed its talents and metal early, and also suffered the first of a number of combat casualties. And while most of the class languished through much of the interwar period as field grade staff officers, the coming of World War II made them into the leaders that won the greatest conflict in history. These included general's like Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, James Van Fleet, and Joseph McNarney. And when World War II ended, the class of 1915 became the Army leaders that led America into the Cold War, and Korea. Never before in the history of West Point had such a group of young officers been assembled, and it has not occurred since.
To learn more about the West Point Class of 1915, join military historian, author and journalist John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) for Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) at 1 p.m. Eastern. His guest this week is Zenith Press (@Zenith_Press) author Michael Haskew, the writer of The Class of 1915. Haskew has researched the entire West Point 1915 graduating class, including those who did not become general officers. This edition of Military Monday will be a fascinating hour looking at one of the greatest collections of Army leadership, at both the beginning of their careers and at their apex in the crucible of World War II. Listeners are encouraged to call in and offer their questions/opinions to both gentlemen.

Let's talk about doing small things consistently in the practice to support ourselves and our pact for more joy (from last week's show). When we do a little every day, over time we make significant change. We can shift our mind to promote a regular practice because it can be whatever we make up!
Born Isaac Ward, the alias "T-KRAZIE" was adopted from his lyrically aggressive rap delivery. Coming from a rough up bringing with no father figure being exposed to gangs, drugs and violence at an early age. His Mother made it a point to him from falling victim to and becoming a product of his environment. Involving her son sports and performing arts they soon discovered he a gift for music. After which he met his best friend still to this day and partner in rhyme, Brandon "Black-outt" Brown. The two became inseparable forming a rap duo called Double-Up. The two made a pact with each other that after high school they would take the rap game by force. Not knowing 15FIVE was that calling. “T-KRAZIE” likes to consider himself not just a rapper, but a rap artist with his song writing abilities. With his lyrical charismatic delivery his music talents are a gifts he wants to share with everyone while being an inspiration and a voice to those who can relate to his story.
“T-KRAZIE” is also the CEO of Mr. Ward Music Publishing. He is not only the CEO of Mr. Ward Music Publishing, but the CEO of Fresh Rebellion Clothing as well. “T-KRAZIE” is also a certified ASCAP writer, artist and entertainer. He is also the Owner and Founder of the “I Believe in Me Foundation”. The “I Believe in Me Foundation” is a mentor-based program that helps children in the community who are interested in pursuing careers in the Arts. Although music is one of his passions, “T-KRAZIE” takes pride in helping to develop the minds of the youth as well as being a role model to them.
Remember when the Canada/US Free Trade Agreement came along? It was all over the media, politicians of the day gave extensive time and effort to explain how they saw it to Canadians. It was the core issue of a Federal election. The majority Government victory for Brian Mulroney paved the passing of the pact. Then it became NAFTA with the inclusion of Mexico. Most of us can certainly remember some of the issues from that time, and they still go on.
Those days of relative "transparency" are long gone. The Corporate Pacification Committee (CPC) of Emperor Harper doesn't believe in telling Canadians what all these "trade" deals really mean. Canada/China FIPA. TPP. And now, CETA, Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. With the 28 member European Union. Despite the warm fuzzies from Emperor about this being a "done deal", it is nowhere near that. The Agreement text is out there, whether it was meant to be or not. And it's not that "upside" for Canada.
Scott Harris is the Trade Campaigner with the Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest citizens’ organization. He has been active for over a decade in the anti-globalization movement, organizing around the MAI in the late-90s, the WTO ministerial in Seattle in 1999, the FTAA meetings in Quebec City in 2001, the Kananaskis meeting of the G8 in 2002 and the G20 Summit in Toronto. Prior to his position as trade campaigner, Scott was the Council of Canadians’ Prairies-NWT Regional Organizer, and he has also worked in the labour movement with the Alberta Federation of Labour and the Alberta Workers Health Centre and in international solidarity through the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation. He has had the distinct pleasure of being tear gassed by security forces in three different countries.
I will be joined by Scott and we will examine this deal in detail. There is much that Canadians need to know about it.
We all know how it feels to rob ourselves of joy all because our mind has "run away" with ideas. Often these pictures and stories are not only untrue, but also powerful! Let's decide to do this different. Let's change the wave pattern in the mind to a beneficial one and keep our joy...what have we got to lose?
Darrell Castle talks about the recent security lapses by the men and women who protect the President — the Secret Service.
“Everybody needs to go here — from the one they all are sworn to protect, to all the agency heads, all of them. At least that’s how I see it.”
Julia Pierson resigned as Secret Service director on Wednesday after just a year and a half on the job, following a series of major security lapses that eroded President Obama’s confidence in her ability to run the agency tasked with protecting him.
The breach last month, in which Army veteran Omar J. Gonzalez leapt over the White House fence and managed to sprint through much of the mansion’s main floor, helped clinch Pierson’s downfall. He had in fact overpowered a Secret Service officer and made it into the East Room before being tackled by an off-duty agent near the Green Room.WP
"Agents tell me it’s a miracle an assassination has not already occurred. In typical Washington fashion, nothing gets reformed until a disaster happens. If anything unites Republicans and Democrats, it is that nobody wants to see a tragedy: We all just want the Secret Service fixed". Ronald Kessler in Politico
Gotta get that title out there for our Grammy Award-winning, Maryland Man! Indeed, Gregg Karukas is returning to "Hybrid Jazz" with yet ANOTHER feather in his cap: a luscious new musical project called "Soul Secrets."
Keyboardist, Composer and Producer and MORE. For over two decades, Gregg has been captivating our psyches with his psoulfulness :-D (HAD to go there!) There is so much that can be said about our guest! He truly is the pride of Bowie, Maryland - where he starred in the Starliners Big Band in high school. An early champion of the synthesizer, Gregg owned one of the first mini-moogs. He was in the top Washington, D.C., Jazz-Rock band, East Coast Offering. This region knew him WELL! Moving to Los Angeles in 1982, his reputation followed him. Five years later, he was one of the original members of the Rippingtons. And through the years, he found work with Larry Carlton, Melissa Manchester and Sergio Mendes. His collaborations with Brazilian composer, Dori Caymmi and his work with Omar Akram set him apart from almost anyone in the genre of Contemporary Jazz. Especially satisfying is the Grammy from last year's "Echoes of Love" with Omar. Gregg produced, engineered, arranged and co-wrote immensely ear-pleasing music for the project, which garnered "Best New Age Album" honors.
Raise your hand if you know Gregg's OWN tunes when you've heard them on the radio. Many of us do and are grateful for the velvet passion that soaks through the airwaves like bliss - if that had notes :) This is a true student of music who dabbled with drums and guitar and trumpet as a child - but chose the keys to the highway ultimately. And never looked back. The artistry from "Soul Secrets" seals that deal for GOOD. Join us on 10/1 with Mr. Sublime ;)
In this episode of Independence Nation, president of Light of Life Keith A. Pitts, MSE tackles the issue of Secret Service gaffes and how it relates to past instances of misconduct, as well as other sectors of government who have had similar mishaps. The head of the Secret Service took responsibility for recent White House security breaches during a congressional hearing on Tuesday and promised to persevere notwithstanding a number of lapses that occurred on her watch.
