    Zone Coverage: #Kobe's Last Hurrah

    in Sports

Kobe Bean Bryant.  #8.  #24.  The Black Mamba.  Call him what you want, but now you can call him "Retired."  Tonight is the last game of his 20 year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.  The Show Legends will discuss his career and make the obligatory comparisons to other players of the past.  Mainly Michael Jordan.

Manny Pacquiao appeared to have little problems with Timothy Bradley in last Saturday's Pay Per View fight.  The fight wasn't worth the money and boxing needs to address that.  However, as far as the Pacman goes, he looked good enough for people to speculate that he could take on a couple of more fights.  Will he truly retire?

The NBA season ends tonight and the Playoffs start Saturday.  We'll take a brief overview of the upcoming postseason and what some of the teams, who didn't make the playoffs, need to do.

These things and more as Zone Coverage returns to the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "Talk sports fom the couch!"

    Show No. 588

    Scheduled for 75-90 mins.

    Pacquiao v. Bradley III #PacBradley #Boxing

    in Sports

The Young Brothers return to Zone Coverage to join me and discuss the closing of Manny Pacquiao's hall of fame career.  Is this truly his last fight?  Only time will tell, but I'm guessing that this will be it for the Filipino born fighter.

He doesn't appear to have the interest that he once did and age is definitely starting to become a factor.

On tonight's show, we'll discuss the interest in the fight.  Did people really want to see a 3rd matchup between these two?  Especially since so many people think that Manny won the first two anyway.  I'll ask my Show Legends who they would have rather seen Pacman fight other than Timothy Bradley.

Also on the show, we'll wrap up the Villanova/North Carolina final, some NBA talk, and anything else sports related as Zone Coverage returns to T2Q!

"The Blurred Lines OF Sports: Dirty Plays, Or Criminal Assault?"

    in Lifestyle

Intensive, hard core, often blood-curdling physical contact in sports such as basketball, hockey and football is a natural expectation in game plays. There is an expected risk of injury to the players in the normal hustle and bustle of the sport. But with the rise of flagrant fouls, penalties, scandals and serious injuries to other players resulting in fines and game suspensions, have the game plays crossed the line of 'good intense sports" to criminal assault?

Cincinatti Bengals' linebacker Vontaze Burfict makes a deliberate beeline for Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver Antonio Brown's head, while Adam Pacman Jones responds to Assistant Coach Joey Porter's illegal presence in the sidelines with violence, in addition to previous infractions--such as deliberately removing the helmet of Oakland Raiders' Amari Cooper and banging Cooper's head on the helmet while on the field--clearly are not moves or actions necessary to play great football. Under any other circumstances, this would be a prosecutable offense, and the immediate throwing of the multiple flags on the field tells that they were flagrantly foul actions.. even by the NFL's guidleines. However, the NFL punished one of those actions while overlooking the other.

When does a player's actions on the field go beyond the scope of "great sports maneuvers" and turn into acts of assault?  Are fines and game suspensions adequate punishments for repeat offenders? Tune in tonight at 10:30 pm EST by calling 347-327-9967.
