On this episode, I welcome back the dynamic motivational speaker, Miss Sweta Patel! Back in late April of 2013, she joined me to talk about her "Watch Out Books" and how she overcame so much in her life to be the woman she is today. Sweta uses her life's experience to help guide young, college-aged ladies all over the country. She teaches them how to respect themselves and protect their self-esteem.
I will catch up with her about her speaking tour and what else she's discussing with these young ladies. I'll also see if she doesn't mind taking a few calls from my listeners and Show Legends. Not only can they get more insight on what she wants to accomplish as an inspirational role model, but they can also get answers to their questions.
After the interview the Show Legends and I will talk about whatever the trending topic may be! This and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show! "No experts. Just opinions."
Show No. 438
Interview scheduled for 20-30 mins.
Show scheduled for 90 mins.
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya said Friday he has signed agreements from former light-middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and heavy-punching James Kirkland to fight each other in May on HBO. De La Hoya told the Times in a telephone interview from Alvarez’s home in San Diego that the date and site -- either San Antonio’s Alamodome or a venue in Las Vegas -- will be finalized soon. Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 knockouts) had a deadline one or two weekends ago that middleweight world champion Miguel Cotto let pass without agreeing to a deal. Cotto is believed to be waiting in case Floyd Mayweather Jr. opts not to fight Manny Pacquiao on May 2. I have been arguing this case for almost two years. Now I have the proof. The govt. is not only using your children as lab rats, but they are using young adults and the elderly as well. No One is Safe!

A group of three friends who made music in a house in Lubbock, Texas, recorded an album that wasn’t released and went their separate ways into solo careers. That group became a legend and then - twenty years later - a band. The Flatlanders - Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock - are icons in American music, with songs blending country, folk, and rock that have influenced a long list of performers, including Robert Earl Keen, the Cowboy Junkies, Ryan Bingham, Terry Allen, John Hiatt, Hayes Carll, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Lyle Lovett.
In The Flatlanders: Now It's Now Again, Austin author and music journalist John T. Davis traces the band’s musical journey from the house on 14th Street in Lubbock to their 2013 sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall. He explores why music was, and is, so important in Lubbock and how earlier West Texas musicians such as Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, as well as a touring Elvis Presley, inspired the young Ely, Gilmore, and Hancock. Davis vividly recreates the Lubbock countercultural scene that brought the Flatlanders together and recounts their first year (1972–1973) as a band, during which they recorded the songs that, decades later, were released as the albums More a Legend Than a Band and The Odessa Tapes. He follows the three musicians through their solo careers and into their first decade as a (re)united band, in which they cowrote songs for the first time on the albums Now Again and Hills and Valleys and recovered their extraordinary original demo tape, lost for forty years. Many roads later, the Flatlanders are finally both a legend and a band.
Members of a Better World is a group of State-Sanctioned Community Development advocates committed to enabling communities in need toward greater self-sustenance. We are focused on the areas of Training and Employment Services, Food Cooperatives, Social Care for Single Parents, the Elderly, Disabled Children support, and Youth Mentoring. These services are essential for equipping communities for increasing self sufficiency and an improved quality of life. MBW services are geared toward reconstituting and rebuilding the communities in the city of Arad, Israel where they are headquartered, as well as throughout the surrounding Negev (Southern) region. The organization was built by 40 families in Arad who examined, identified, and addressed core needs impacting financial and social independence within that community. After several years of research activities, our official work started in June, 2013, with our model focused on independently generating funds to support projects promoting self-sufficiency.
Mormon church backs LGBT rights -- with one condition

Convening a rare press conference on Tuesday at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Mormon leaders pledged to support anti-discrimination laws for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, as long the laws also protect the rights of religious groups. What are your thoughts? plus Mega Star Mega Feath Glenn Drover joins us in the studio. The Notes Behind The Music Weds.
In exchange, the Mormon church wants gay rights advocates -- and the government -- to back off.
Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as Scott picks the brain of leading apologetic’s debater and founder of Creation Today Ministries, Eric Hovind.
Eric Hovind grew up immersed in the world of apologetics. Following college graduation in 1999, he began full-time ministry. President and Founder of Pensacola-based organization, Creation Today, Eric’s passion to reach people with the life-changing message of the gospel has driven him to speak in five foreign countries and all fifty states. He lives in Pensacola, Florida, with his wife Tanya and three children and remains excited about the tremendous opportunity to lead an apologetics ministry in the war against evolution and humanism. Much like a 21st-century Apostle Paul on Mars Hill, in June of 2013, Eric stood on the first monument to atheism in America to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the atheist community.
In 2011, Eric teamed up with Paul Taylor to begin The Creation Today Show. More than seventy-two episodes are broadcasting on three continents equipping thousands to continue battling the anti-Christ, anti-Bible spirit that consumes today’s culture with the absolute truth of God’s Word, beginning in Genesis. Discover more about Eric and his ministry at www.creationtoday.org.
Is Giving Your Music Away Helping or Hurting Your Music Career? The debate about free music has raged for years now, and there’s still no answer that satisfies all sides. Tim Kreider’s NYT op-ed piece called “Slaves of the Internet, Unite!” does a good job voicing the frustrations of artists around the world who are tired of seeing their labor go unvalued (both monetarily and otherwise). But Remember, buyers no longer have to purchase an entire album in order to enjoy an artist's music. They can purchase single tracks that they have heard on other platforms. This is a perfect way for artists to earn and create revenue in streams that were not possible before the age of the MP3. Rather than risking the loss of a sale because a potential buyer does not want to buy an entire CD, artists can also now make money because buyers can select any specific song they want. The other side of this is that, if a band releases a song for free, fans may want to buy more of their songs which require a purchase.
This week we look to overcome technical issues and have as our guest Tenaya Hurst of Linino.org and Rogue Making.
Tenaya Hurst is a Maker. With a degree from Indiana University in theatre, geology, and anthropology, she is self taught in microcontroller programming. March 16th 2013 she found out what an Arduino is and now she works for them, promoting the new Linino hardware allowing you to use any programming language to control the hardware, wirelessly. Tenaya enjoys teaching kids how to program, solder, and sew with electronics. Her goal is to inspire kids everywhere to try electrical engineering. Learn more in the Intel MakeHer report, Make:43 in a tell-all article by Dale Dougherty, and www.RogueMaking.com.
Join us for a show that will look at what it takes to be a woman "making it" in the maker community, how the special energy of the maker community has had an impact on her management ideas, and why the DIY spirit of "makers" might just be critical for the future success of your IT projects.
Interop 2015 will take place from April 27th through May 1st at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. More information and registration details are available online!
