HOW DO THE TRADITIONAL YORUBA AWOS EXPRESS ISESE? WHAT ARE WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN EXPRESS ISESE? WHAT DOES ISESE HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL LIFESTYLE ADJUSTMENTS, INTROSPECT AND SELF-EXAMINATION?
DO JOIN US ON TRUE TALKS WITH OFAE OFAE TODAY AT 8:PM EST. CALL 347-850-1533 TO SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING OF ISESE OR TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF IT. Thanks! Looking forward to our talks! Ase!
"Ifa priestesses are called Iyanifa. Awo is often used as a gender-neutral reference to individual Iyanifa or Babalawo, as well as to the group as a whole. An Awo is a spiritual counsellor to clients and those whom he or she may have assisted in receiving tutelary Orisa shrines and/or initiation into the spiritual tradition of the Orisa. There have been Iyanifa, women Ifa priests, since time immemorial in some areas of the world, such as Ibadan, Nigeria", yet we find that many women of today are still confused about their roles.
For many years, there have been and still is a huge controversy about the roles of women in Ifa and Orisa life. Women have come from a place of misconception about their roles according to the DOs and DON'Ts set fort by men in Ifa and Orisa life. Many women have been trying to organize women in order to teach them or to bring up their understanding of their responsibilities in Ifa/Orisa life and what CHANGES they can must make within the RANKS OF IFA/ORISA LIFE. In 2003 a group of Iyanifas organized and held an Iyanifa Worldwide Congress in efforts to bring the women in Ifa/Orisa life to an understanding of herself. Some of the questions surrounding these roles stem around how women are limited or not limited based on their status as Olorisa, Awo, Iyanifa.
WHAT IS THE ODU (SACRED IFA SCRIPT) THAT SAYS WOMEN SHOULD NOT INITIATE OTHER WOMEN INTO IFA? SHOULD WOMEN BE ABLE TO INITIATE MEN INTO IFA, YES OR NO AND WHY OR WHY NOT? KEEP IN MIND THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IYANIFAS WHO ARE TRAINED. YOUR KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OPINIONS ARE APPRECIATE.

This episode of TRUE TALKS WITH OFAE OFAE centers on CHANGE WITHIN THE RANKS OF IFA/ORISA EGUN LIFE. Some of the issues that reflect a need for change is the exclusion of women in key positions such as being on the IFA COUNCIL (an organization that speaks for the rights of all Ifa/Orisa devotees and practioners worldwide). Some of the questions that will be explored are as follow:
What is the Ifa Council? Do women hold executive roles on the Ifa Council? Do women have a say on the Ifa Council? What other roles do women have in Ifa/Orisa life that gives them power of authority? What difference will it make if women are placed in head positions on the Ifa Council?
Our special guests who will be speaking on this topic are:
Iya Ayaba OrisaBi Awodele-Ifaseye (Awo-Iyanifa, Teacher, CEO at Queenchiku Ngozi Art Gallery, Inc.
Iya Abiye Awo Agbaye, Ifa/Orisa priest, Oloye(Chief Priest) at Ile Iwosan Orunmila Mimo Temple

SPICY WEEKLY HOT TOPIC DISCUSSIONS ABOUT IFA.
9:00 P.M. CALL IN 347-989-0180
FIRST SHOW: IFA LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS
MEET MAMA YEYE
Mama Yeye was born and raised in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands! Her spiritual background began with my matriarchal linage of herbalist and spiritualist on both sides of my family. She had training in herbs began with her mother Elmira Farrell and her spiritual training began with a maternal great aunt, named Caroline E. Thomas and many members of her extended family unit whose names are too numerous to mention here.
Mama Yeye says she give thanks and praises to all of our ancestors for without them, we would not be. Her first initiation was in 1991 into the order of Palo Mayombe as Yayi Nkizi (Mother of Spirits) to Mama Chola and Lucero by my late Tata Bisuako, in Miami, Fl. In 1999 she became initiated into Lukumi to Orisa Oshun Ibu Kole and Ogun, Alagbede by Iya Alabumi but was instructed by Ita to follow the Traditional route to Orisa, and she relocated back to the islands.
In 2000, Mama Yeye returned to St. Thomas and started by business that she still runs today of Traditional Healing, providing spiritual readings, cleanings and guidance to those on their spiritual paths. In 2001 she received first initiation to Ifa by Babalawo Osasee in Puerto Rico and received Ifa odu, Osa Ose, the same as her Oluwo but this relationship did not last long as it was a Lukumi Ifa house as well.
In 2010,Mama Yeye made connection with Babalawo Oyasogo Ifakorede of Ajitena Temple, Oyo Nigeria and has been working with him and all the Babalawos and Iyanifawos since then. As a result of these undertakings, she received a Chieftancy title of Erelu Abiye in the Ajitena Temple Ogboni Miami branch under Olowo Fakayode.
Orunmila is known as “Eleri ipin Ibikeji Oludumare - Witness to all choice of destiny second only to The Supreme Being”. Although not the oldest of the Orisa, Orunmila was there when we decided our destinies and will know when we leave Aye, if we’ve realized those destinies or not.
tonight we are going to take a trip with our Ancient Ancestral Mothers, The Wise Women. We invite you to join us!
