Up next will be Dan Kost with the Quad Cities Motorcycle Rally and City Tour at the Hillcrest Event Center in Orion, IL on May 23. This FREE event to benefit the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities features a Pancake Breakfast, Exhibits, Bike Show, Vendors, Food, Local Fun Run (Free) Door Prizes, Biker Rodeo & More.
Dan stepped up and took the reins of what had been the largest Bi-State Motorcycle Awareness Ride in the Country. This was a free riding event to not just raise motorcycle awareness but to help out the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities until the local cities started to charge huge sums of money for the police escort. Having to cover the additional expense by charging riders was a deathblow for them. Fortunately Dan had gotten involved a couple of years ago and was there to keep it from going away for good. In order to keep this Motorcycle Awareness Ride going there would have to be some changes. The parade style continuous ride was changed to a continuous ride made up of small groups, thus avoiding the high cost of the police escort. The features and amenities the Hillcrest Event Center offers made expanding the ride into a motorcycle rally an easy decision.
Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when Scott brings on two cousins whose backyard adventure hit the big screen, Aaron and Chad Burns.
Aaron Burns graduated with his Masters of Business Administration from Oakland University in May of 2011. He served as the co-producer, production designer, score supervisor, and lead actor on Burns Family Studios' Pendragon: Sword of His Father. Aaron was recently married and lives with his wife Andrea in Lake Orion, MI.
Chad Burns is the award-winning director and co-producer of Burns Family Studios' first feature film, Pendragon: Sword of His Father. Chad completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems and Human Factors at the University of Illinois in the spring of 2011. Chad recently married Angie in August 2011 and lives in Champaign, IL.
These cousins have now created the Christian Hit, Beyond the Mask, an action-packed, Gospel-centered, historic, adventure film. It is set in the turbulent months leading up to the American Declaration for Independence.
The story explores identity and redemption through the lens of one central question: "What does it take for a man to remake his name and redeem his identity?" The assassin-turned-vicar, Will Reynolds, tries two classic approaches to fixing himself. First, he hides behind a mask of assumed identity. Second, he works to do enough good to outweigh his bad past. When both approaches fail, he discovers that only in Christ's finished work can he find his own redemption.
Episode 2435 - Prayer that gets results - Michael Orion Carter
Here we are at the beginning of a new year, which poises us in the powers possibilities. Terry Smith became an advocate and writer as a result of severe Traumatic Brain Injury sustained in OCS summer training after his freshman year of college. In plan, he was to build a military career, be elected to senate, and then become President of the United States. In reality, he flat-lined twice during brain surgery and woke up from a coma with amnesia. To develop memory, he was to record daily life by writing. Three years later, he returned to college and graduated. He was awarded a writing fellowship with Paramount Pictures in Hollywood. Over the following years, he worked in film and television for 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, and Orion Pictures. He has written three books – Jason’s Final Coming, Helvena, and Surviving Head Trauma. He is also an award winning playwright - Cherry Street Park, The Funny Thing About Death, and The Bar on 3rd St. His life advocacy is for raising awareness and prevention of TBI.
