Naked Wine: The Art of Selecting Organic Wines

    in Wine

Most people take for granted that when they select a wine, the ingredients are going to be pure and natural. However, as most conscious consumers know, this is not the case. There are 200 ingredients on the list of government-approved additives for wine. However, unlike food, wine manufacturers arent required to list their ingredients (which can include animal proteins, oak chips, sulfurs, yeasts, enzymes, preservatives, and “Mega Purple” which is a brand of highly concentrated wine color) on the side label. This renders most consumers to be clueless about what exactly is in their wine and used to produce it. In the book, Naked Wine, wine expert, Alice Feiring explores these very issues as she discusses the process of natural wine making. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to award winning expert, Alice Feiring. Alice Feiring is an award-winning food and wine journalist and author of the Battle for Wine and Love. Formerly the wine/travel columnist for Time, she now writes for the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Conde Nast Traveler and theLos Angeles Times Magazine, among many others. APR Toys for Tots Holiday Special

    in Education

Friday, November 28, 8:00 PM Eastern Time:

We are doing a very special show of public information and holiday entertainment.

We will be opening the show with a special guest as we feature one of our favorite charities “Toys for Tots”. We will speak with a Marine who oversees one of the largest “Toys for Tots” regions, and does one heck of a job serving over 11,500 children. This in itself is fairly impressive, and even more so when you consider his region includes some of the poorest counties in the U.S.A.

Keeping with our tradition of examining charities for how well they are run and how much of their revenue really goes to the cause they serve, you will be very impressed when you get the internal numbers of the “Toys for Tots” program. This organization has one of the most impressive expenses to mission ratios of any charity in the nation.  We will then close out the evening with more holiday offerings from our archives.

Joel Salatin Explains Why "Folks, This Ain’t Normal!"

    in Environment

Are we really unable to feed our "growing" population or is this merely rhetoric used to sell GMO's? For decades, people have gradually disconnected with how food is growm, what real food should look like, where it is grown and who it is grown by.  It takes a true organic farmer to get the point across about the benefits of growing organics as well as eating organics. Joel Salatin is an organic farmer from Virginia who talks about the problems he sees not only as an organic farmer but as a consumer of organic foods. In his best-selling book, Folks, This Aint Normal: A Farmers Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World, he takes us into his world as he talks about how our food is produced and why we ought to take a closer look at where and how our food is produced. Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead

    in Weight Loss

In America, obesity has become a severe problem that affects people of all ages. While there are many diets, fitness chains and other methods to help shed unwanted pounds, sometimes, you must reach rock bottom in order to take action. One day, Joe Cross found himself, 100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating auto-immune disease. He decided enough was enough and began his journey to good health. He decided to film his transition so that he could inspire others to do the same. Along the way, he spoke to more than 300 Americans, from all walks of life, about what they ate and (more importantly) what they didnt eat. He found a nation full of honest, hard working, friendly and caring people that just need some motivation and inspiration. His documentary, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joes personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long term, Joe turns to the only option left, his bodys ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road armed with a juicer and generator, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and get healthy. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Joe Cross, about his journey and how juicing can improve and restore your health. Stay tuned!
