LDSS Announces Night of Champions to Honor Differently-abled Working Adults and Their Employers
(SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) announces the sixth annual Night of Champions will be hosted Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m. at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa – Hotel Grand Ballroom. This community celebration distinguishes local organizations that hire and retain differently-abled people, including those with Down syndrome, and recognizes the contributions made by these employees.
According to the National Down Syndrome Congress, 80 percent of the 15,000 people of working age (18-60) with Down syndrome are unemployed. Low expectations and a lack of understanding about the skills and work ethic many people with Down syndrome possess have contributed to this statistic. LDSS hopes to reverse this trend by encouraging Savannah area employers to give differently-abled workers a chance.
“Dignity and self-respect are borne out of feeling that what we have to offer makes a difference,” said LDSS Night of Champions Chairperson, Allyson Harvin.
This year’s Night of Champions will be emceed again by celebrity chef and author, Jamie Deen. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online at nightofchampions.org
For more information, please contact Allyson Harvin at email@example.com.
The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is a family support group to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families through local leadership, outreach, education, and advocacy to champion and celebrate acceptance and inclusion. Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month. LDSS is an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society. For more information about LDSS, visit http://www.ldssga.org/
Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio as your host of Business IS Personal, Shawn Mari Turi, interviews Charlesetta Medina, directing manager of the Small Business Institute at Cal State Fullerton.
We will be discussing “How to find a mentor and why finding the right one is game changer” and we’ll address why so many professionals (both entrepreneurs and executives) say they want a ‘different result’ and they want ‘support’ but they seem to resist what it would take to make that happen. Getting a “mentor” is a game changer… so why don’t more people do it?
We’ll tackle that Q and SO much more!!
Shawn Marie Turi is your host of Business IS Personal: (What you do and WHY you do it… MATTERS!), a show focused on interviewing remarkable professional women and entrepreneurs who are doing what they love, kicking ass and believe that ‘Business IS (in fact) Personal’…and what we do, how we do it, and most importantly, why we do it really does matter!

Pull It Together with Erika Black - Fun, Inspiring and Practical discussions on Life, Love and Making It Count! Host Erika Black is a Transformational Life-Coach and the owner of Pull It Together. This show is all about helping people move forward, acheive their goals and dreams, live with joy, intention and make a difference.
Living in the south, with all its charms, traditions and iconography does not offer access into certain aspects of her history, especially when that history involves discussions around the Civil War and the Confederacy. The inability to rake through the smoldering ashes of a war fought 150 years ago, allows for a one-sided narrative that sometimes misrepresents the causes for war, the people - enslaved and free - who lived through the war and and its aftermath. Although it is a necessary, and some might add, long overdue undertaking, it is also anxiety ridden, especially within the black community.
How can parents of color approach this subject and explain to their children a war fought over, among other things, a system of that relegated their ancestors to permanent servitude?
Today, the Mommy Chronicles is on site as the Alabama State University Department of History and Political Science explores those issues by examining the Civil War history at its first Confederate Memorial Day "Mini" Conference.
What is an entity? An entity is a non-physical parasite. Just as you can have intestinal parasites, your subtle bodies can be parasitised by non-physical energies and presences. I've seen how entities weakend the body when they aren't dealt with properly, especially with issues dealing with chronic fatigue and pain. Yes, illness and pain does have a spiritual side!
I can't wait to dig deeper into this rarely talked about phenomeon with Samual Sagan, founder of the Clairvision School

It's been 42 years since the original cast and crew of the 1973 film Jesus Chris Superstar have all been in the same room together, and tonight (April 27), Director Norman Jewison, Ted Neeley (Jesus,) Yvonne Elliman (Mary Magdalene,) Barry Dennen (Pontius Pilate,) and Josh Mostel (King Herod); to name a few, will reunite for a special screening at the Beekman theater in New York City.
Getting the band back together so to speak would've happened much sooner for Ted whose boundless enthusiasm for what he calls his life-changing role has never left. He tells host Robin Milling, “I've been trying to get this reunion to happen since the film came out. I've been trying to get all of us together to do another production; if nothing else just to hang out for a few days. It's never happened until now. And the fact that we'll all be in the same place at the same time with Norman is a miracle!”
Miracles have been known to happen in the life of Jesus Christ, but it almost didn't happen for Ted who reveals he almost missed out on being cast in the iconic role. He also tells Robin how he met his wife of over 40 years, Leeyan Granger on the set and how their two children have been happily following dad's adventures as a superstar.
Most actors run from one role defining their legacy but Ted has embraced Jesus, still performing the role wherever and whenever he can; most recently touring Italy for a year. He says joyfully, “It completely changed my life, spiritually, personally. So why slap that in the face? And I still love it; every performance is like the first time all over again. That music starts to play and I just lift off the ground, 'ok take me wherever you want me to go!”
